Do you enjoy your K5 more as a DD or not?

I think a lot of it depends. It depends how far you drive a day. It depends what your other method of transportation is. It depends If you can afford it. It depends how your K5 is set up. It depends how picky you are. I LOVE my blazer. It drives and rides great for how big it is, its fuel injected and has OD. I used to drive it every day until I worked on it, doing the TPI and getting that all straightened out, and now that its complete, I have been drive it a lot again.
Whats your other car to drive? I have a '78 stepside and a '98 civic that I can drive instead of the Blazer. The civic gets 35 MPG, so thats a plus! However, if I had some bucket car, Id much rather drive the Blazer. You have a new Cummins to drive, which you love. I am looking at a '02 HD, on 38's. Yes its big, but its IFS and Diesel, I wouldn't mind driving that every day either. But then again, I still have the stepside and the civic. I guess what it coems down to for me is: can I afford the gas. Right now, not really, but as soon as I get a new job, that will not be a issue anymore!

Boy did I save a ton of money in fuel since I bought my cummins! :) I parked my K5 right when gas went really high here ($2.50) and I can only run 91 octane. With my cummins getting 20mpg and being able to use mostly farm diesel, I bet my savings are in triple digits vs. if I would have kept the K5 and not bought my D/CTD.

Don't have much of a choice here. I work much closer to home than my wife does so she drives the F and F Civic and I drive Wimpy. I'll tell ya what though I do like seein other Blazers cruisin around. I usually see at least 3 or 4 everyday.

Ah well. She's still a blast to drive specially after a good rain. There's this huge puddle in the road on the way to the shop that I bet I spray water a good 15 or more feet in the air.

i drive a '91 K1500 every day. i absolutely hate it. its ugly, it sits too low, its expensive to lift it, and the seats are uncomfortable, and with the 4L60 i cant tow anything. a couple weeks ago i jumped in my K20, having not driven it for almost a year. the seat was so comfortable, despite not being fired up in months 3 pumps of the accelerator and it roared to life. even with the plow hanging on the front of it, i like the road feel of it better than my K1500. the color is a custom mixed color, mixed by my dad, and applied by him, my grandpa, and myself. even though it is stock, its probably the most beautiful thing i've ever laid eyes on. not only that, but i see it as a symbol of what got me to the point i am at today, where i learned most everything i know, and all the great times i got to spend with my grandpa. with that said, i made a deal today to have some bodywork done to my '91. after the bodywork its getting a new windshield, and a front CV shaft, and a for sale sign. i'm buyin another K20 :D

HAHA ya i love dooing that at the corner of Howe and Fair oaks, there is always a huge puddle, shoots water a good 5 feet above the top of my hood. But with my (around) 88 mile commute every day, its burning a huge hole in my wallett, i cant wait to get the MINI fixed

I travel a lot and spend a lot of time in rental cars, but when I'm home The 75 is a DD. It takes me to the airport and back when I need to travel. NEVER (knock on wood) left me stranded. There's something warped in my mind that I love getting off a plane and hopping inside my K5 and driving off after a week in some bland Impala or Buick.

Yes it sucks gas worse than a freshman at a fraternity kegger, but I can still afford it. It was uncomfortable when I got it, but my new comfy 2002 Silverado seats make it a pleasure to ride in. The 4-speed keeps me entertained while driving. Most of all I love the fact that it is ugly, people steer out of my way on the road and I have no worries in the parking lot. A tree on the trail will do soo much more than a loose shopping cart or door opening on it.

I've got a 2004 TrailBlazer that is my business rig that is great for the long hauls. The wife drives it most of the time when I'm home or away by plane. I just like old stuff better.

I love driving my k5 as my daily driver..
I bought it just about 6 years ago as my first vehicle ever, when i was 16.. I have been driving it every day to school and work since.
I like having a daily driver that can go almost anywhere. When the apocalypse comes, wherever i am, i'll already have my daily driver set up to drive over anything and head for the hills.. :rotfl:
Sure it would be nice to have a little commuter car and get 30mpg.. but the whole time i'd be driving i would be wishing i was driving my k5..
The ongoing battle with the price of gas and deathwobble every once in a while, hasn't forced me to give up driving it daily, yet..
Maybe i am one of those young whippershnappers but i have a passion for driving my k5.. everywhere.

I like driving my truck around on occasion, but it gets old fast. When I am going somewhere I just want to get from A to B, and I can do that faster and more comfortably in something besides my K5. And as mentioned before the heating and layout of newer vehicles is much better, and definately need good defrost in the PNW ;)

It sounds like a lot of people commenting are pretty young based on that they like the attention and "what other people think" aspect of driving their K5's. I don't give a F*** about if I look cool or people notice my rig driving down the road. Too many people worried about image and other peoples opinions these days.

YES , i am 39 years young and i love the attention. :)

well i drive my shortbed everyday, its beeing a big PITA latley so i think im gona take it off the road when i finish my s10, but driving the shortbed is ALOT of fun, i love how the little kids walking down the street go "mommy look at the monster truck", or the looks on peoples faces when ur driving down the street with death wobble, or hanging it sideways with 38's on, then theres the times when i get pulled over for being to big, the tires to big or sticking out of the fenders, loud exahust, no inspection sticker, or a cop seeing death wobble( that was funny), then the death wobble gets annoying, tires cost a fortune(they sound cool tho), and high gas prices.
im sure gona miss it for the couple of months while its off the road, but im sure and s10 with a 400hp 350 will be a blast to drive

I drove my '75 as a DD for a couple of years. Heck for a while the only 2 vehicles the wife and I had to drive to work were the '75 K5 and '71 Cuda. Now the wife drives a Lincoln and I drive a Tundra (company vehicle) to work.

If we're traveling anywhere 9 times out of 10 we take the blazer, because we are going wheelin'. The K5 will sit for upwards of a month, and then get driven for a minimum of 150miles and wheeled.

Anyways, I love every opportunity to drive the K5.

I think it's kind of like riding a Harley, it's noisy, it vibrates, it's expensive and there is just no logic to it but as they say if you have to ask you wouldn't understand. It's just a cool feeling driving that big old K5 down the road and no new truck can give me that feeling, besides nobody ever wrote a song about their new Nissan hardbody.
