My wife wants to drive my 84 K5 Blazer. (33x12.50s, 2" lift, 700R4)

She is 5' 2" tall. (Smurf Size)

Her car is a Mustang. I don't think she can see over the hood of the Mustang all that well. Parking the Mustang isn't a big deal. It has two extra feet of clearance on either side of the car in a parking lot. I don't care if she drives our brand new Gran Marquis. We are talking about my truck here !!

* I don't want scratched and dented fenders
* I don't want her using the steering wheel to lift herself into the truck.
* I am NOT putting a staircase on the side of the truck for her to climb on.
* She don't know four wheel drive from the Space Shuttle and don't care to learn.
* She just thinks it is neat to to sit up high and drive a big truck.
* I am having nighmares that she will get into the truck, shift into reverse and back up over 5 cars in the parking lot.

*** Am I being UNREASONABLE ??? ***

*** Do you let the wife/girl friend drive your truck ?? ***

when I had a girlfriend I gave in and let her drive it. Then everytime I turned around my k5 was gone. And yeah she hit a few things with it to include my 2500 HD when she swung too wide coming into the driveway. That one kinda hurt. Drug the winch bumper down the bed of my truck for about 5' or so. Still let her drive it afterwards though. $hit happens.

I let my wife crive my Blazer twice , after years of saying I wouldn't .

1. Out my driveway , down my street , up our access street , turn around in the dirt lot , come back .

2. Tool around on our large gravel yard to move it while I raked the driveway .

And thats it .

I am alway leary of letting her drive a locked rear truck , with recirculating ball steering , brakes not meant for larger than a 235/75r15 , and a carb .

She has only driven FWD injected vehicles ( she is younger than I ) .

Before we bought her Jeep (2 months ago) she wanted to drive my crew cab every day. :pimp:

Our Suburban is our primary baby carrier. My wife drives it more than I. She loves it and does a great job. She has done some mild wheeling in it too.

Yep, on the trail and the road:

Does result in heated "discussions" on the trail sometimes.

Matter of fact, this afternoon she's driving it into town pulling the camper trailer to pick me up for the weekend.

My opinion is to make her feel as much a part of the truck as you can. It makes it much easier to spend money on it when she supports what you're doing.

i let her drive on back streets only, usually around her neighborhood mostly....she knows its my real gf anyways so she doesnt want to hurt it.:wink1:

Yes she can drive it. If it wasn't for her I would have never bought the 1st K5. She also drives the burb and the 05 crew cab GMC

I agree. If you share your hobby with your best friend it makes the expense at least tolerable. More so when she breaks it.:wink1:

Back when I had a K5... and Girl, I let her drive it. Was hilarious to watch. My girlfriend at the time was 5'2", tiny(maybe 100lbs soaking wet) and her legs were strong(soccer player). With the Zoom clutch and Mechanical linkage in my 84 K5, she had to push her shoulders into the seat back, butt came off of the seat, and foot on the clutch to push that thing down, haha. It was a sight. No worries about her ****ing anything up, she had a hard enough time getting out of creeper gear.

Driving my truck with the hood scoop makes her nervous, so I let her drive on vacant dirt roads. That and she gets scared because it has more power than her 1998 dodge neon.

I can break things just fine without anyone else's help, so I have a very short list (like 4 people) of who I'd let drive my truck. So far none of my girlfriends are on it, and most of my guyfriends aren't either. 2 of the guys on the list aren't close by (Rene and HarryH3), so the list is REALLY short.

I'm thinking of keeping the list to those pople who could fix whatever it is they broke while driving my rig (on my truck or whatever they destroyed).

I have a pickup but when I had 33's, 3" bl and a turbo 400 she drove it all the time...

now I have 6" lift, hawgs and a manual.... she cant drive a manual....

SUCKS TO BE HER :haha:

My gf can drive whenever she wants. There is no way that she can hurt the truck any more than I already have, and its nice to take a break from driving and enjoy the sights.

Mine tried once. Can't see over the fenders and it makes her nervous. My kids have driven when I let them, but they just steer:D

I guess in some ways I'm lucky.....My wife of thirteen years is only 4'8" tall(?) and is nervous about getting her lic and driving her 1991 F**d Escort, she thinks of it as a full size car :doah: so my suburban terrifies her at the thought of driving it! I drive my truck, her car and my trike, just not all at once...she will drive her car only when she gets her lic. can you believe she is 30 plus years old and NEVER had a lic? YIKES!:eek1:

No license? Damn. Anyway, my ex wanted nothing to do with my truck. She thought it was atrocious. :dunno: She had a hard enough time seeing over the steering wheel/hood of my car (64 f*rd Fairlane). That's why I never let her drive my car. I'm very protective over the car. I don't care if anyone drives my blazer. My truck will take the other person out and I might get a scratch.

i let her drive a few times in the dirt <yikes> everyone rags on my speed driving in the dirt but she stomps on the gas everytime she hits a bump or gets scared. then i got her one of her own and she can drive that all she wants (when its done).

my gf always says i love my trucks more than her. she's probly right, i do spend more time/money/attention on them.:D

in five years i have yet to let her drive it. closest she got was pulling it up a few feet in the driveway. im real picky about anyone driving anything of mine. i dont wanna fix something that happened when someone else was driving. if im the only operator, i cant blame anyone but myself

Sure I let her drive. In fact she drove right out of this puddle and into a small tree...I was laughing so hard that I almost fell over...I waste SOOO much time and money on my truck and she is very very supportive, it seems only fair that she gets to break stuff too...
