my friend has a 01 dodge 2500 and its his DD, would he be able to put a lock-right in the front with any issues? the front D shaft always spins and one axle shaft (short side) is constantly spinning? or would it interfere with steering when driving normally in 2wd?

Im not positive but being its probably the same vaccume axle disconnect system used in Jeep TJ`s XJ`s and YJ`s where many run lockers without problems he should be OK. Go read up over at jeepforum for a few good laughs and some probable recent posts about the topic.
Not to be to big an asshat but I could never comprehend how so many over opinioned, brand X bashing, swollen ego`ed up folks can ask the same question 20 times a day......... wheres my oil drain plug????:haha:
At least here you guys actually make your own stuff and not buy everything from a jeep parts house.

I have a friend with a Jeep running one in a DD . It isn't too bad in 2wd . You know both shafts and the driveshaft will now spin all time , instead of the spiders .

I would recommend changing the unit bearing to a real spindle , LOCKING HUB , and bearing setup . Pricey kit , but worth it since a front locker ends up getting you into harder spots :wink1:

It shouldn't be noticable at all in 2wd with the vacuum disconnect. I know a bunch of guys with YJ's (same front axle setup stock) that run lockers and even welded/spooled diffs and it's not an issue.

The disconnnect disengages ONE sides axle .

Your going to notice it , just not so much :D
