Dodge 5500 questions (fire apparatus) new question post #20

I doubt you'll find the rim you want, without adapting to something else.

There's some recappers that work pretty good doing some bigger 19.5" stuff.

Well that's a start at least. I'm interested in following up on every possible option.

Anything is better than destroying a 350 dollar tire.

Hang on a few and I'll get you the name of the outfit I was looking at getting my winter meats from 285/70r19.5s even IIRC. AND optional, In the recap rubber they inset crushed glass and walnut shell. Working for micro sipping when the crush walnut comes out and abrasion traction with the crush glass. All in a knockoff Goodyear mtr type tread.

Sounds good thanks.

The biggest problem we have is all the honeycomb rock. The weight of the truck crushes it. When it breaks it has a knife like edge which just cuts tires down. We also have problems with thorns and sticks puncturing the side walls.

It sucks having to scrap an otherwise perfectly good tire due to side wall damage.

They are like $160 a pop IIRC. That's why I'll be buying a full set of 6 for my winter wheels (stock 19.5s) rather than keep burning the r24s off all winter.

Super Swamper Iroks 36-13.50-19.5, load range H, 6400 lbs per tire.

Your engine looks like a Pierce "PUC", we have one too.

Well holy ****.

Oh never mind. I've seen those before. Still need custom srw rims. And last I saw brutally expensive.

Yes they were expensive, put we generally don't wear tires out on the trucks.

Hunterguy, if your interested in actually going that way. I'll still sell you my 10 bolt 1st Attack srw rims. 20x11 industrial shells.

My truck is a proper dually again. These SRW rims are sitting around now.

If Hunterguy doesn't take them, I am interested.
I have a 2005 Ford F550 4x4 that I run a single rear factory wheels on in the winter for farm/offroad use. The selection of aggressive tread is slim in the 19.5" size, and it would be nice if the rear tracked at least close to the front.

Old thread but any chance you still have those 1st Attack wheels?

That MTR is going to be at it's very limits w/ the weight you're talking.

The firematic tires that streetrod posted before would work. They're offering a different tire now a/ a 6800 lb rating! They're even listing it w/ wheels and a lift.

Cooper STT Pro comes in a 295/65r20 w/ a 4,080 weight limit, a little better than the MTRs and Toyos.
