I am working on installing a dodge dana 60 in a 90 K5. It currently has about 4-5 inch springs of unknown origin. 4x4 factory steering box (does have welded frame brace installed), and it appears to have a dropped pitman arm. So i have the current gm draglink going to a 10 bolt and i have the dodge draglink that came with the 60. It does have the dodge steering arm on the kingpin, but my understanding is that it is tapered from the bottom. Should I re-taper the steering arm from the top? will either of these draglinks work?

Neither draglink works as-is, the Dodge draglink taper is much smaller than the GM.

You can re-taper the Dodge D60 arm from the top, but you'll end up with too much steering correction if you have a drop pitman arm too. Also, if you look at a GM D60 steering arm vs. a Dodge one from a bird's eye view, the Dodge is further forward and requires that you shorten the draglink (which in my experience means cutting threads off to get it short enough).

Assuming that you do have a drop pitman arm, I'd look for a stock GM D60 steering arm (then it would all bolt up and have the right steering correction) or re-taper the Dodge arm and get a stock pitman arm.

So the tapered ends on my current draglink would match a stock GM D60 steering arm correct?
