Does anyone else think "square body" is a stupid name?

Always been called a "square body" around here as well. But that goes all the way up till GM changed the headlights in 99/00 or whenever for us. All the same around here. Rusted, Disgusted, Busted, and Cant Be Trusted. So, its all square, only thing that isnt a square body here is mid 70s and lower or whenever when they switched to the single round headlight model. Forgive me for my alcohol intake, but yea, that year is when we quit or start with the square theme. Personally, i could care less what they call them, if it doesnt have a 454/400/205/60/14, I dont care what color or size or shape or creed or make or model or anything it is, its not worth my time.

You don't count skinny jeans. You can't even bend your hat right.

Yeah "Square Body" fits, that's all they are called around my neck of the woods. You get to bs-ing with someone and they ask about your hobbies, and you bring up Blazers and Jimmys. They say that's cool but then you say you know the square body era. Click, light goes on and oh yeah those are cool!

69-72 1st gen
73-80 2nd gen
81-91 3rd gen

thats how i always referred to the K5, but i'm stupid.

Fixed that for ya. And that's debatable. Regardless of the full top/half top in 73-80 (not to mention the rear seat floor section design -78ish) the nose design (fenders/hood) is arguably the 2nd gen designation difference. 3rd gen starting with the flat hood in 81.

At least that's how I always seen it here on CK5. I mean, if you really wanted to get all technical about it, you could come up with 4 gens alone between 73-91 with all the differences. The general populous just chalked it up to an early and late between 73-91.

Gm calls it a 07 and 07 classic

Pretty standard for GM. They've used that designation with Malibus before, too, when switching to a new body style but for some reason still building the old. May have been used with other models, too, for all I know.

And I've got nothing against square body. It gets the idea across. And it's a hell of a lot better than NBS/OBS/NOBS/ONBS/CBS/ABC/NNONBS stuff. That stuff is just plain stupid, whoever came up with that wasn't thinking.

everyone around where I live have called them square bodies for as long as I can remember. I don't have a problem with it. A lot of people don't know the exact year splits, but 'square body' is descriptive enough that people will generally know what you are talking about.

No.

It's a second generation c/10..... I don't think I ever called it a second-gen pickup.
How is that wrong? :dunno:

So the "C/10" name started for 60-66, and the 67-72 was the second flavor? I will freely admit that pre-67 I get a bit vague.

Yes.

Yup, you did.

:D

Sonuva.... :haha::bow::popcorn:

Back on topic...

People in sacramento refer to them as square-bodies, too.
Like for real, in real life...

Its easier to differentiate them. :dunno:

Call any junkyard around here.
They may not know the difference between a '69 and an '88,
But they damn sure know what a square body is.
We all call 67-72 Chevy pickups, "the round headlight trucks", as well...

Marty have you ever considered counseling? You seem to have a lot of inner anger. More than me and we all know that is saying something.
