 I was wondering if anyone makes a suspension drop for the front like the shackle flip for the rear. Also does anyone make longer front shackles. I want to run the a smaller lift spring and drop the mounting point to acheive a taller lift.

neither idea sounds good to me... i know there can be serious issues with longer front shackles.. caster/pinion angle, stability... ORD makes a "slightly" longer HD shackle. http://www.offroaddesign.com/catalog/hdshackles.htm their purpose is for reasons other than lift, mainly to keep the spring off the frame..

there is really nothing wrong with dropping the front suspension mounts an inch or two. If I ever get the tools together I will fab one up and start selling it. I've seen it done a few times by members here with great success. As of now, no, no one sells a kit.

Hanger kits are quite popular for Ford Superduties. Those that think this is a hack job should check those kits out sometime.

yeah but you never see those kits used alone they always have like 20" springs under them

That is not true either. Many people use them with stock springs to get 4" of lift with the stock ride.

hill4wd sells some. as does www.diy4x.com , Kert is a member here by the name of Cybrfire. As for using longer shackles, it requires the shimming of the front axle to get a good camber angle going. Otherwise your steering will be messed up. You also hurt your shackle angle, which means you hurt your flex. I think most of the people that just run a longer shackle, eventually switch.

Hill 4WD sells beefy longer shackles. I have them, I also made drop hangers for the front. There both great, now im thinking about taking the leaf springs out all together!!:D Theres some pics in my webshots.

Hey k5monsterchevy, How many inches was your drop on the very front hanger and how long is the rear front shackle???

1987 1/2 short bed chevy

If it's not broke I will break it some how LOL

Thanks, would love to be able to drop the mounting point and run a spring with less arch. Im thinking of running the shackle flip with 4 inch spring in the rear but I havent fig. out the front springs yet, I know I want to move the front axle forward the 1 inch and get longer greaseable shackles. Dropping the mounting point would be a plus for smaller springs. I am looking for smooth ride and good spring articultion. Im also looking to run the M.T. Baja claw 37x13.5x16 on the truck. Looking to kept the tires tucked up close to body for less body roll, and I dont like the body way above the tires. just my thought.
