Can two consecutive window motors be bad, or does the motor not ground through the body?

Martin

I answered my own question with a couple jumper wires.

It grounds through the connector.

Martin

Does anyone know which wires need power and ground to run up and down from the switch?

Martin

I am assuming that you are working on one of the doors, not the tailgate window.
The wires to the motor are dark blue, and brown.
The right door has dark blue with a white trace, and tan to the motor.

Passenger side door motor.

I can see the wire colors. What do they do? Where is the ground?

I figured out that the switch flips the polarity of the two wires running to the motor. Why not just ground through the body?

Martin

There black wire goes to the body to ground, inside the cab. But that is past the connector just inside the kick panel.
The pink is the power from fuse panel.
I will try a larger picture, hopefully you will be able to see if it.

Reversing the polarity on the motor switches the direction the motor spins. If one side was always grounded the motor would only spin in one direction.

The reason you can ground the motor on the rear window is because the internals of the motor are different than those of the door motors.

I realize that, I just don't understand why they did it.

The answer is, the driver side switch.

In GM's infinite wisdom, they ground both switches together. So the wires go from the passenger side switch, through the door opening, across the dash, through the driver side door opening, into the driver side door to the switch, back through the driver side opening, and into the dash to ground.........
