usually show trucks have 10 bolts, but ya never know.... you could always pull the cover when you go to buy it and make sure the gears aren't worn funny, and it has the detroit in it.

Anyone have a pic of what 14ff gears should look like slightly used?
Yeah I found it strange that a show truck would have a 14ff but even more strange that it would have a detroit but ya' never know... some guys just need to have it all even if they'll never use it. I'll see what I can find out...

Heck some show trucks don't even have a diff of any kind, or pistons and con rods, or ...... anything that is not visible from the outside. They just push them on and off trailers.
id buy it, thats exactly how I got my 14 with a detroit and 4.10's, i found an add and called it up it was 250.00 for a 14ff with 4.10 and detroit. I talked him to 200.00 because a spindle looked a little pitted (glad i pulled a drum when i bought it and i recommend you do to if this housing means anything to you), I swapped on my brakes (no bleeding necessary if you just swap complete backing plates) and Ran it for a couple of years like that with new fluid. Then sold the other 14ff for a bill.
btw, youll love the 4.88's with that 700. Ive since changed my gears and now the truck moves out of its own way now. Yet still at 2000 rpm's going 65mph in od.

Yeah I can't wait to feel what its like to have some power in this truck... 4.10's and 35's was the best feeling I've had w/ the truck but w/ the 38.5's on its a little on the sluggish side 
Well when I get pics I'll post them... hopefully this works out. I told him if he still has it when I get back to Cali (in December) I'll take it off his hands...
BTW he said it has "bling bling chrome backing plates" so it looks like its going to cost me $500 for the axle and another $2.99 for a can of flat black paint to spray over that crap...

Is the axle out of a 3/4 ton truck so it will bolt up?
I don't know but its SRW so the worst I'll have to do is move the perches...which I wouldn't mind b/c I could clock towards the TC and get rid of the shims I currently use...
Well the guy is draging his feet and finally posted some pics... definately not in as good a shape as I was expecting for a "show truck"... its ok though I've been bitten by the pre-runner bug so my k10 is getting dropped back down so my 4.10's will be fine

It would probably be fine for a regular truck though if the insides are ok. It looks better than the axle I started with. Just needs some leaks fixed. Those shock mounts look like it is from a 2WD truck.

Yeah, its not really in that bad of shape (at least from what we can see externally) but he shouldn't have said "show truck" b/c its a little misleading
I'm not worried though b/c like I said I'm going in a new direction so my 4.10's will be fine...
