dollar amount you got in your rigs?

do I have to add up all the things I bought for it, then broke and upgraded, or just plain broke and threw away, or sold for less then I paid for them. because that would just depress me to think of all the money I wasted trying to get a dana 44 to survive. or the three sets of headers I have had on it so far. or the three t-cases. or the third cab thats on it now. apparently I like to do things more then once.

I will just list what is in the truck now, not the mistakes I made. But I have owned the truck almost 10 years now.

1900 for the truck
2600+ motor, carb, headers, exhaust, misc accesories
700+ torque converter, shift kit, stainless lines, deep pan w/skidplate, clocking ring, shorter adapter
900+ springs, shocks, bushings, shackles, shackle flip, U-bolts
200 wheels and tires, not bad for 44's I have been wheeling for years
800+ crossover with hydro assist
1500+ axles and their rebuilds, driveshafts, rear locker, front cover
400 S&W cage kit
$$$$+++ for all the stuff I am forgetting, all my time I have spent working on it, and all the parts I have made myself from free steel. I probably have over $1000 in grade 8 hardware in it.

I drive it like I stole it and try not to think about the down payment money I could have on a house if I had just kept it stock. But then I would not have spent $35,000+ on another truck, trailer and upgrades to tow my trail rig.

heres what you get for $45,000.:doah:

800 for the blazer
460 for the lift
100 for brake lines
1200 tires and wheels
50 for u joints
traded a 1970 running three quarter ton dodge for a suburban for axles
50 for u joints again
290 for lock right
100 for ball joints
100 for steering brace
25 for steering box
200 for wheels
50 for power steering pump
100 for misc. oil and filters
25 for paint for the axles

$3550 that is what I can think of off the top of my head. There is more but I cant think of them now.

About $1500 so far...

$600 for the truck
$144 for tax, tabs, and plates(so much for $30 car tabs, Christine "No new taxes" Gregwhore can kiss mine)
$297 for the Quadrajet
$80 for the starter
$150 or so in various fluids and gaskets
$25 for new battery cables
$44 for two sets of spark plug wires.. accidentally sliced one set on my razor sharp ghetto chrome air cleaner
$8 for two air filters
$13 for two oil filters, one Purolator PureOne and one K&N Gold
$16 for 8 AC Delco spark plugs

Probably more that I am missing but I'm taking it kinda slow since everything I'm doing to this truck is the first for me.

Currently have about 12k into the trail rig, still have to do a doubler, d-shafts, shocks, and a couple odds and ends. So I think It will be hitting the trail at about 14-15k. I've had it two years and originally paid $800 for the truck.

Havn't even touched the engine or trans yet :doah:

I refuse to add until such time it is required by an insurance agent or other financial official on the grounds it will reveal my stupidity!:wink1:

I have owned this blazer twice now, but the first time I didnt do much to it so I wont count that.

I think I paid $600 for it this time and now I have over 10x that in the motor alone. Then add bumpers, sliders, paint, exhaust, soft top, wheels/tires, lift, interior work, and transmission.....I dont want to add it all up.:(

I still have a few thousand to go too.

I've had this truck for about 10 years now, and it was pretty cherry when I bought it (daily driver all through high school) so that increases the total a bit (paid $7500 back then). Plus it has been through several "stages" so there have parts bought, installed, used for a while, swapped in favor of something bigger, and sold (usually at a loss, but I figure I made up for the difference by the fun I had while they were on). Needless to say, it would be hard to come up with a final number because a decent portion of what I have spent money on isn't even on the truck anymore. My advice, never spend a lot of money on 10-bolts, despite all the fun it was locked front and rear, stock suspension, 4.10's, and 32's.

All in all, I'd say I have really close to $15-16K in her including money lost on changing my mind on how big I'll go before it's "done".

oh yeah, i forgot about the thousands of dollars in fuel to DD my truck. haha....11MPG on average kills ya. you probably can't count that though.

i feel so much better thanks for that post now my wife will get off my tail. i told her i was sonna have a good trail rig and i told her i was gonna start rock crawlin then she seen this and said i can spend what i want as long as i stay off the rocks

Ok i have spent nearly 7,000 dollars on my mall crawler just wondering what kind of dollar amounts are floating around that you spent on your curb climber or your full blown trail ready bad@$$. just lookin to see if i got a chunk in my junk

so far about 5 grand.and its still as ugly as the day i bought it.it took so much to keep it running as a daily driver that i couldnt do anything to make it look better.who knows how much in parts and upgrades while it was legal.now is illegal because of the lack of sheetmetal and rust holes.ill be working on that next summer.

With good trades/sales/used parts + purchase (newer 350/th350) + what I'm fixing to buy lift, bumper, rock sliders, lots of little things and tube doors with part of my taxes ummm $6500 + .And I`m about 2/3`s done
(for now) ;)
