If anyone has heard of Clark Truck Parts in Poca, West Virginia, do not buy anything from them. They have great prices (a new 14ff with 4.56's and a detroit for $550), but thats only because their parts ar crappy, and they wont fix them. I bought a 14ff from them in july, and put it in this weekend, only to find out that something inside the differential is broken. It makes a horrible grinding noise when driving it, and the differential has metal shaving in it. I called clarks today, and they wont help me out at all. They wont give me a new one, pay labor for a shop around me to fix it, or even fix it themselves. I told them that its funny that when I was handing them the money for it back in july, that they told me if I had any problems with it at all to tell them and they would fix it, and now, they wont do anything. So now, im stuck with a truck that wont move, I have to call a towtruck to get it to the chevy dealership, and when it gets there I have to pay to get it fixed, and clarks wont pay anything. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif Never ever buy from Clark's!!!!!

Chevy dealership? You're going to send a 20 year old truck to the dealership to get repaired instead of sending it to a good shop in your area?

I'd suggest contacting that companies local better business bureau.

I'd be surprised if it is as effective as CA's BBB, but CA's BBB surprised me...results were almost immediate. I don't think the BBB has any real teeth, but can probably make life a little difficult on the shop.

The only shop I have around here that can do differential work, charges more than the chevy dealership. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif Luckily, I am good friends with the rearend specialist at the chevy dealership near my house, so maybe he will do it cheaply on the side for me. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Did you buy it "as is" or did it have some kind of warranty that they won't honor? Even a junk yard has some sort of warranty whether it be 30 day or something else.

Well, I bought the axle on July 25th (I know because I looked at my reciept yesterday.) The day I bought it, they man who sold it to me asked me what I was going to be doing with the axle. I told him that I would be putting it in my blazer, but that it would be at least 2-3 months before I put it in. He said that whenever I got it in, if there was any problem at all with it, to call them and they would fix it for me. Well, now, they are trying to tell me that their warranty is only for 30 days. I talked to the parts manager who seemed to agree with me that something should be done, but he actually sounded kind of rude, and then I talked to the owner of the company who said that he will "since I seem like an honest person," cover parts only. I said parts only!!! /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif So now they will cover parts, but nothing involving labor (which will most likely be quite a bit more than parts), and I am still left with a towtruck bill to get it somewhere. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif And on top of that, I have no vehicle now

See if you can get your buddy at the dealer to give you a hand doing it yourself. Take the cover off and snap some pictures of the damage. document the dissassembly and take close pictures of any damaged parts or peices. Take the pictures and broken parts list to them and get the parts.

You can have the axle torn down if a matter of an hour or less with no special tools needed.
