Does anyone know where to get a new door jamb decal/sticker that has the VIN #, GVWR, tire sizes and such without having an original one to go off of? Can the dealer supply a new one by giving them the VIN number? My blazer is missing this sticker as it was repainted through a GM dealer about 4 years before i bought the blazer and it's my guess that they removed the sticker and never put another in its place.

It's probably only available thru a dealer.

I work at a Toyota dealer and we require the customer to *cut out* the area with the VIN sticker and send it to us (for us to forward to the PDC).

I'm gonna be surprised if you can get them at all. Just like cutting keys with the VIN on newer trucks, the record keeping in use at the time probably doesn't allow it now.

If you find they can, certainly let us know, even if they aren't painted over, most I've seen are in pretty poor shape.

I doubt you can get those even at dealers but dealers would be your only hope.
I only had one vehicle in my life that still had a legible sticker all the others were faded or gone.

I've already found a website that will duplicate a sticker BUT you must have a picture of the sticker which is impossible since my sticker is missing.

What is that website if Babaganoosh can't do it, I can at least recreate mine since it is still intact. The door on the other hand isn't in quite the same condition.:doah:

Probably more bad news than good.

If the sticker is worn faded or otherwise damaged you are basically SOL. You can have the sticker duplicated but it would be on a piece of paper to carry in the truck.

I dealt with this years ago during a CT vehicle inspection. The state needed a visible vin in two locations. The dash was okay. The door sticker however was junk. To top it of the car had a Goodwrench crate engine so no vin reference there.

If I get any good news I'll post here.

Ironically, I just had to order a Toyota plate and noticed ours are only available for vehicles 5 yrs old or less. No older stuff.

Here is the website http://www.ecsvin.com/index.php you must take a CLEAR picture of the decal and they will make you a new one and the website says they are "ECS certification decals are the only manufacturer licensed and approved products on the market". I have not called them so i have no idea how much they charge for them.

some of the lounge specialists around here could probably get you a picture of the sticker with the needed information on it to send to that company

Not so sure that would work as i would obviously want my VIN number on the label and it's doubtful they will make a new decal but change the VIN number.

Unfortunately if you want a sticker no matter what you do you will be in a gray area legally. Probably the best bet is to get a pic from a similar model and photochop your vin in to the pic. That is what unscrupulous folks do to sell vehicles that are not what they seem.

You of course are simply trying to get back to orig and morally doing nothing wrong...but the law states otherwise. :-(

This was a thought i had and i did find an EXACT optioned blazer of the same year and i took a pic of the sticker and once i can get it loaded to my computer (took from cell phone and need to figure out how to get it to my computer) i'll be making a PM to a certain person on here.

Yes i am not doing this for any illegal reasons but just to have the info about my rig where it should be. I have heard that here in California if you get stopped while towing a vehicle and this info (GVWR) is not on the vehicle you can have your vehicle towed and impounded.

Is that sticker really considered a legal document? I know it has the VIN, but it's a sticker! I suppose I'm thinking of fighting a fight that can't be won, new cars come with stickers with VIN's on them for ID, so I dunno.

Just seems really stupid that you want to have an accurate, legible sticker on your vehicle, and you get the runaround. I wonder if a picture of your title with VIN would work?

Besides, the premise seems to be a bit pointless...I'd like a reproduction door sticker, because mine is fine?

I'm very sorry I forgot. :doah: I will write myself a note and ask tomorrow. I'm sorry I apologize.

I found our answer

I will scan this and also list the size of it on truck. We just need to figure out how to do the numbers on to the decal.

Mine is just starting to lift off on edge so I can get the measurements. Be surprised what I find in my Data Books and Dealer guides. I think I have started to be like that crazy guy with all those old sales brochures. :haha::haha::haha:
