What is the difference between the 1969-1971 doors and the 1972 doors? I have a 1972 GMC Jimmy but it apears that the older door panels are installed. What can I look at to see the difference and know if the correct 1972 door panels will fit before I order them?

Are the LMC panels OK or should I keep a look out for some older original ones?

TIA
Mark

Different length shaft's on the window crank and door opening handle to accommodate the molded plastic door panel used in 72.

I'd doubt it...

The shafts are part of the larger regulator assy, and doesn't look to be dismantlable. I don't think anyone sells just the shafts anyway (I've never seen them in the catalogs).

You could look for a set of earlier regulators to swap in ('69-'71) to match the door panels. They shouldn't be too hard to find and not too expensive either since it's a pretty common item.

Just noticed that you have 2 posts and are already a Member! :waytogo: WELCOME.

You can use this forum to ask for 1st Gen parts directly (usually works best)...but you also have access to post in the Parts Wanted forums, so you could try asking for the parts there as well.

Where on the East Coast are you located?? We have a few 1st Gen guys here in the NH/VT area.

Mass.

Can someone give me the lengths of the shafts on the 1969-1971 doors and the 1972 lengths so I know what I really have?? I would like to install the correct door panels if they will fit. If not I will probably change whatever is needed to install the correct door panels. I am kind of anal??

It 'can' can be done...

Installing 72 door panels on 71 regulators is possible, I've done it before.
Just gotta push a little harder when seating the handles. :wink1:

Thanks I apreciate the answers. I would still apreciate if someone could measure the lenght of the shafts from door so I can know what I do have??

1972 doors had a screw in them just below the vent window as well as the differences mentioned above. 67-71 doors did not have this feature.:D
