Doors doors doors

As noted, the doors are basically the same for 73-87 pickups and 73-91 Burbs/Blazers, save 73-75 Blazers with the cut-off frames.

The insides differ somewhat, so if you're wanting to mix and match door panels, you'll want to get a fairly close year -- the panels go from '73-76, '77-80 and 81+ as I recall.

Also note that the interior differs for power vs manual.

Doors

You probably already know this but make sure you check the hinge mount areas on any doors before you buy them. These doors were famous for being weak in that area and I have fixed hundreds of them and can't stress enough about checking them before buying! Been building these trucks and blazers for over 20 years now and the doors still are one of my biggest complaints on these vehicles. Love them though, every rose has it's thorns. Good luck on the search!

is there a really good way to check them? the original ones are bad i can tell hanging on the truck but how should i go about checking the new ones

No problem. Go look at your k5. Look where the hinges mount both on the doors and on the body. Mine are cracked a little and my doors dont line up for $hit. But my hinge pins are worn out as well.

So slight highjack.

Whats the best way to realign the hinge mounts when reinstalling?

I had to pull my hinges to change hinge pins/bushings (DO THIS BEFORE YOU INSTALL YOUR NEW DOORS), and now my door is low.

loosened hinges, tried to lift door, tightened hinges.....still low. Hits strike, and strike is lowered all the way down.

Tips?

You should definately mark the hinges with some lines with a paint marker or sharpie to allign them up when reinstalling. I would put one on the top of the hinge running vertically, and one on the side running horizontal. Then when you line them up you know its dead nutz where it was before. In your situation because you didnt mark it........ $hits focked..... Lol jk, but you will prolly have to just keep playing the loosen, move, tighten game.

The marking idea always sounds better in concept than in reality. I marked some of it, but it was so far off from previous body work in the area, and worn hinges, that the original locations weren't that valuable.

Now i just need to get it raised up. Tips?

Well if they have been removed before and were alligned bafly then no that wont work. Are you doing it by yourself? 2 people make it much better. One holding, one wrenching.

I can get help from someone to help realign.

We were holding the door up as best we could when tightening the hinge bolts. Any special tricks?

Sorry man im out of ideas. Only really messed with doors on my bronco ii. And those lined up fine by myself using 5 gal bucket to hold the door up. Just order some tube doors from DIY4X :haha:

Sounds good. I used 12 ton jack stands from HF to hold my doors up, so my friend wouldnt' spill his beer.

Said beer probably had something to do with me smashing my thumb while trying to drop the stand 1 notch though.....:doah:
