Doors doors doors

Theres your problems. You gotta drink more beers. More you drink the better they will line up.... But you just have to drink lots of beers all the time to make it seem more lined up..... Sounds like a win win to me!:thumb:

lining up doors

Well here is how to start out. Have plenty of body shims on hand before you start (Autozone, etc. should have the Y body shims in stock on the lazy susan rack. Do not use washers! They will cause dents and weakness in the areas where you use them!) The best way to realign the doors properly is to start at the center of the holes on all mounting areas. This isn't going to get you anywhere close to great but it is where you need to start. Once you have all the bolts in just snug up one on each mounting point and only one. Now carefully try to close the door and see where your at. If you start hitting stop! and adjust the door back. If it clears and shuts fairly well adjust as needed. Have a block or jack stand with plenty of diffrent sized shimes to raise or lower the door for you. If your using a jack stand make sure you put a block of 2X4 or something similiar to keep it from scratching and denting the bottom of your door. Once you get the door closing fairly well it is time to start getting that nice body gap and lines running straight. Work the door from the top to the bottom. If you had a PO that messed with the fenders it will be a major chore and the fenders will more than not need adjusted also. All I can tell you is that it takes alot of time and patience but you should be able to align one door in a couple of hours at the most a bit longer if the fender needs aligned too. If you have a nice paint job make sure you tape off all of your doors and fenders where they might hit. Just remembered to tell you to loosen the stricker before you start and worry about it when you get the body lines in order. The stricker is always my last concern as if you have it fighting you from the back side of the door it will just make the front side harder to align. This can be a huge project if you want a perfect body gap and all that jazz or have bad hinges (adjusting with bad hinges is just a waiste of time). But if you just want your body lines to line up and a well shutting door it isn't that bad. Just remember not to lose your patience and if you get mad just walk away and take a break. Cause I promise you, you will get upset until you learn the jest of how doors work. If you need anymore help just holler and I'll help you out. I can't work on my Blazer anymore due to my health so helping you guys out is the next best thing. I would love to see one of you guys build a really beautiful Blazer and help you along the way. You more than likely will be cussing me while your doing the job but if all is correct with your Blazer and you are patient I am fairly certain you will be happy in the end. Best to you and hope you get her back on the road soon. As always this is just my opinion so take it as you will!

Also re. door compatibility, if you happened, however unlikely, to end up with late-model doors that came with the rare power windows, the 3-bolt mounting pattern is different (smaller triangle). Said another way, if you scored sweet late-model doors, but the mirrors were toast, you have the prospect of finding the elusive mirrors to match.
