IF IT DOES NOT HAVE 8 PISTONS - IT'S BROKEN !

I think we're talking about the offroad designs transfer case doubler. You have to use the np203 gearbox, to which you attach an adaptor that looks like the back of a th350 or a 700. You can then use any case that will bolt on to these trannys, but the size of the case will effect driveshaft length and angle and other stuff. The offroad design site has a full brakdown of components and lengths so you can figure out what you want to use. The kit's about $700 and the custom shifters about $150, plus transfer cases.

And I really really want that 4:1 low range.

you can all so make tha back of the 203 look like a t400 too. I have the first and I think the only one that behind a NV4500, We also used the T400 stile 203 this makes the doubler just as short as it can be I still have a rear drive shaft thats 23.5 inches long! This works fine and the angels are not bad at all. I also ended up with 7 motor mounts! It really nice to slow the Blaze down to a slow walk keeps from spilling my coke, plus you get the power to pull down a big tree 1st low is 6.34X2.01X1.98x3.73=94.2 to 1 I love this !!!!!!!

I don't know if you have this link, but offroad designs makes the doubler and has pretty good info on this on their web page.

hope this helps!

I left the stock 3.73 gears in mine and with the Overdrive 5 speed, 35 inch BFG A/T the motor turns 1800 to 2000 at 75 to 80 MPH, getting around 24 MPG. Thats the point of it! You can keep the higher gearing yet gear way down off road.

Is this in your 72? I'd like to get my hands on a 5 speed. I like to drive fast and this granny four will kill me on mileage. The blazer is still in peices and I'm building it from the frame up and I want everything perfect.

I run the NV4500 both grany low and over drive Too!!! 6.34 low to .73 over drive much the same as the old 4 speed just has the over drive 5th.

ya, good idea and Id love to have it but $700.00????? Thats ludicrous! Waaay out of my price range.

thats not bad when you find out that the NV4500 cost me about 2000.00

Hey Blazer72, are you running a suspension lift as well? I want to go 4" on the junker w/ the doubler kit th350,203 gearbow, 205 case and was wondering if I'll need custom shafts.

Troy

I agree with ya Thump. I will have to shell out the cash though. I have way too many rocky hill climbs calling my name... I guess it is not as much as a good winch.

You'll have to get new shafts custom made with any Doubler setup. I've got the 4-speed version and had to lower my 205 transfer to keep the original downward slope of the drivetrain toward the rear diff. about 1.5". Just thought some might want to know

You have to run a 1 inch body lift to get the doubler to fit and yes you must do a lot of work on drive shafts! The 205 moves back about 13.5 inches!!!! I dont run any lift other than the body lift. I used the stock front drive shaft with a jack shaft and a carrer bearing . this keeps the front drive shaft out of the cross member. the rear drive shaft is all of 23 and 3/8th long!!!!!! I can send you or any one some photos.

I all so changed the rear shaft to a CVC at the 205 end this way I could keep the 205 up as high as I could as it is the low point.

Photos would be appreciated, though I'm quite a while away from custom running gear, gotta get the basics working first. Gotta find the artice, but one of the mags used the doubler in "Project:Blazer" a few months ago and I think they came up 1 3/4" shorter than stock. Can't recall the setup, though. I'm sure 90% of people here know the article.

Blazer72 did you use the 4 speed adapter and 205 or the auto adapter and 205?I am wanting to put a doubler in my '73.My plan is to use the 4speed 203 with the auto 205 and adapter. This is a little shorter than the 4 speed adapter and 205.Also the '73 and up Blazers have a 2" longer wheelbase than the '72 and older Blazers. This helps alittle.Brady
