Is there any way to use of of the many companies that produce a crawl box (ie. black box, magnum, diablo, klune, or box for rox) that can incorporate the figure 8 205? I'm thinking no but figured id ask. I sold my round pattern 32 spline input 205 a few months ago and no have a 27 spline (can change input) sitting here id like to use.

It's not one of the small crawl boxes but I've got a new ORD Doubler kit for sale. If your interested, let's make a deal. :ears:

Thanks but im trying to avoid the weight of the 203 case and the length. Also want 4 speeds with out buying a atlas. Coupled up with a 465 gives you 10 gearing options.

Plus you know me, Im going flat belly.

Whats the dealio with the 241 adapter, I was just reading on pirate but don't see them on yalls site. Also with that kit can I run a 241 32 spline chevy case? I keep seeing people talk about for cases but as we know that wont work. Also Im guessing I would need to change the front output of the 205 to either 31 spline (cheap and readily available) or 32 spline correct? Flat belly? I see mention of 2 inch clock, I would like to be flat belly as im building a new floorboard anyways.

That project is on hold with no ETA

I stumbled across this

http://www.behemothdrivetrain.com/STRONG_BOX_UNDERDRIVE_KITS.html

Hard price to beat and you can basically have 1 sent to you ready to go in. No offence chris or to the guys at ord or nwf, but this is a great price for the budget friendly like myself.

I sent Jacob a email with a bunch of questions and pricing and will report back to this thread when I find out.

The only thing I don't like is that it only uses 5 bolts to bolt the crawl box to the transfer case, so a rear 205 support is needed. But really with any doubler a rear 205 support SHOULD be used.

What he said^^ There is also a bunch of info about the behemoth boxes on Pirate4x4. If it weren't for the fact that I already have a bunch of projects to do on my truck, I would have already sold my 203 and doubler and replaced it with a behemoth box. I already have the neccesary 241 internals

Yeah, I was curious if he had improved on actually getting them out the door.

Some interesting info I got from him this morning.

The 208 adapter is about 8.5" long. It will allow you to bolt directly to the Strong Box without any further modifications. If you want to save 6" in length you can send me your output shaft to have cut down and resplined, and buy my sm465- round 6 bolt adapter that I am getting ready to release. It is 2.375" long billet aluminum, and costs $299.
Shaft respline is $85.
32 spline 4x4 output shafts can be cut down and resplined to 23 spline or 27.
35 spline 2wd output shafts can be cut down and resplined to 23, 27, 29, 31, 32 spline.

You can order the Strong Box with the figure 8 bolt pattern on the rear clocking adapter. There are 2 options:
1. No extra cost; uses the top 5 bolts of the fig 8 pattern. Bottom 3 bolt holes are not used and will need to be plugged. Many people will use these 3 bolts to tie into some type of mount. It is recommended to use a mount near the rear output area. We sell a very nice rear support mount.
2. $120; Figure 8- round 6 adapter plate.

Shifters; I can discount $35 each for no handle on the shifters. You would get cables, rod ends. Then we'd add the brackets and hardware; $100. Total would be $370.

All of our Strong Box kits allow you to clock 360*, clocking flat is easy.

We look forward to working with you on your project, and giving you 270% of your existing torque.

I've been paying close attention to this thread as I was considering an ORD doubler until I found this. I also have an SM465 and I have a 32 spline np205 sitting on the shop floor. I began researching this quite a bit and what appeared to be a less expensive option up front is turning out to be at least as expensive as the 203/205 doubler the more I look at it.

I contacted Jacob too and he replied very quickly about all my questions and options, however you've gotten deeper into the price quoting and more specific than I did.

One thing I'd be particularly worried about is his reliability and potentially LONG wait times after paying.. Hey, I'm all for helping out "the little guy" and investing in a new business, but I don't want to wait forever for him to ship me what I have paid for.

I know you mentioned you don't care about the wait time, but doesn't this thread concern you? I mean, these complaints are CURRENT, like even within the last month!

I wonder what takes him so long? I mean, obviously I read that his equipment isn't state of the art but does he have that many orders really? If so, you'd think he would have inventory on the shelf..

I'm not trashing his reputation, just weighing in before making a potential order with him myself even. Anybody here running his products in your rig?

from his last email to me.

Me- whats the turn around time

him-30 days. I have hired a high speed mchine shop to mass produce them. They are capable of 10-12 a day. First batch is due in 2 weeks.

He told me this is all new, He simply couldn't keep up.

As far as cost that extra 1.7 gear reduction is well worth the extra cost as I would go to black box or magnum before going to a boat anchor 203/205 again.

I've been in contact with Jacob over the last few months about some other things. He is very excited to be able to produce so many of these. I will be receiving one off the first batch that he has farmed out. I pretty excited and will report in my build thread in detail once installed. Very genuine guy! I think this will put him on the map with these things!

Yea - I neglected to include the extra value gained from the simplicity of design, reduced weight and massive underdrive gain from Jacob's product. It probably wasn't a very good comparison! Definitely not knocking ORD's doubler, the two of these are just very different products / mods.

It does seem like there's more positive feedback from lately about him. Makes sense if he was trying to do one at a time "by hand" that he couldn't keep up with demand and ended up with a lot of really pissed off people. What I don't understand is how he let some of the issues spiral out of control ending up in a situation as bad as being a blacklisted vendor on one site. Then again, what the hell would I know about trying to start a business and keep up with all the challenges coming at you.

When are you supposed to get yours from him? Very interested to see your report!:popcorn:

I started a thread on this a while ago.

Martin

Can you link that for us Martin?

the alternative without going to a magnum or black box is duffy at ddmachine, nothing but bad things said about him over A LONG time. Jacob is new to the game so I think he kinda deserves a bone thrown. Duffy has a history to this game.

Biggest worry I have with Jacob is the machine shop aspect. He may be paying a machine shop to build them for him but if a bigger, better contract rolls around Jacobs will be put to the side. But only time can tell that.
