Who’s do you use?

How do you sharpen them?

by hand and with a drill dr.
Lots of people hate them but they work ok.

Dress them by hand sometimes if i just need it sharper quickly.

I used to be able to hand sharpen, Idk why but I can't get the angles even anymore.
I use the drill doctor to sharpen my bits, work owns it. Work provides drill bits so I don't sharpen theirs.

I voted disposable, but that's really not true. I will just buy a new drill bit, but I also don't throw away the dull one. So I just collect more and more drill bits.

We have the Drill Doctor for the business, but no one uses it. We just have a box full of dull bits that never get sharpened.

Really interested in this thread, usually I just go buy a new one...
Little ones I usually chuck in a bin until there’s 30 or so. Sharpen them all at once. Bit ones I sharpen before I use them if they need an edge
Still all by hand

I sharpen mine on the side of a cutoff disk. I’ve become pretty good at it.

Disposable. I'd like a Drill Dr but I'm never willing to spend the money on one.

With some practice hand sharpening on a bench grinder isn't very hard. The real small bits are the hardest but they are also the cheap ones to just get a new one. The big ones are easier to see what you are doing. Don't throw the next dull bit away, its already trash so why not try and sharpen it. Get a drill gauge and go for it, you may surprise yourself. Big bits are big money, don't throw $20 bills in the trash.

Anything 7/16 and up I'll try to sharpen. Especially if it's an odd ball size, like a letter bit in the index sets. But small ones, na. Just chuck'em and grab a new one. You're more then likely going to break it when sharpening it anyway.

The bigger bits I do by hand. The others are disposable especially since I'm nekkid.

Edit: holy sh!t that reads bad, there's some ammo for some jokes LOL

Same here. I have tried and tried to hand sharpen them but I just can’t get them right. I can’t sharpen knives on a flat stone either, pretty pathetic but it is what is.

I used to hand sharpen. I shake too much now. I have had a Drill Dr for 15 plus years. The stone had gone bad due to use. Replacement no longer available, semi bought a new one. Set up is important on the Drill Dr. Works well.
