Driveshaft angles/operating u-joint angles??

Had the same problem, vibration when I let off the gas, and it turned out to be the u-joints. Once I replaced them, the vibration was gone. Was always under the impression that worn u-joints only vibrated and made noise under hard acceleration. I guess you CAN teach an old dog a new trick or two.

I did read somewhere about how hot rodders used to shim the rear in order to reduce the angle, but that was more of a drag racer thing.

Saw the post a month or so ago, about $150 u-joints that never wear out, but I'll just keep installing the $30 chinese stuff for now. Once a year isn't that bad, plus I need more time in the garage, doing stuff.................................

just get a cv. I have a 2in sprin 4in flip cv style with detroit in the 14bff and everything is fine except when in drive slowing down, but that seems to be normal. ill sell ya mine, im looking to get one from drivelineman

if you have a 208 its the operating angle making the noise its called gear rattle- and a c/v with the pinion angle at a 2 degree working angle will cure it - there just happends to be a new 1350 c/v slip yoke out finally a good way to do it-Jess 530-877-2875 and you get a 10% discout for being a memeber

Jesse, sounds good, I might look into one of those. And like Chaz, I also have swapped out the u-joints with no luck. My shaft is brand new again (I ripped it up on the last run again, so had to have it all redone, rebalanced, etc) That is my other beef, because I have two driveshafts (one brand new, one almost new spare) set up, so buying a new CV shaft would be out of the picture unless I can sell the two I have now, which isn't easy. Jesse, do you know if those operating angles are way too steep for the u-joints (15 and 13 degrees)??

welp i drop the t-case 1/2 inch this morn and it seem better...i am goin to try 1/4 inch more and see what that dose...i cant go the full inch because i have problems with the front drive shaft binding up......the noise use to start when i hit 55...now it starts when i hit 65...so that is a change for the better
