i just called and ordered some drive shafts for my blazer. i was expecting them to be expensive, but not $1148 expensive :eek1:. how much do you guys have wrapped up in your shafts/yokes? oh btw, mine are from HAD. the guys are awesome and have killer parts, but you really pay for them..

two, but i didnt get a cv front axle, cause it would have been alittle over a grand for the front shaft itself

i know its about right because i called around and everyone was within about $100 of each other. i just wasnt expecting that much

Seems about right for drive shafts from a 4x4 shop type of place. But, they can be had for cheaper... at least in my area.

I paid around $600 total for my drivelines, and I have a 2 piece front.

I think you paid too much IMHO.

from where?
Tattons driveline service here in Salt Lake. Curtis Tatton builds all of teraflex's axle shafts and drivelines and is a friend of mine, but I didnt really get a dicount either. He just has good prices, and exact same quality as HAD, tom woods ect.....

edit...this was 2 years ago when steel was a little cheaper but not much

my rear right now that i just got built was about 450, it is a cv 1350 connected to the slip yoke of a 208, but i'm sure it isnt the quality of an HAD d-shaft. I plan on going through him for my next set, though

I paid $300 for my rear shaft with 1350's and 1/8 wall tube, got it at a local place only took them a day to make it too which is a plus

over a 1000 sounds like a lot but HAD make some burley stuff I am sure you will get what you pay for

thats what im thinking. im not complaining, i was just curious what everyone paid. so heres exactally what i got- rear cv shaft with 1350 yoke for t-case, 1410 yoke for the diff side. front shaft is one piece with a 1410 on both ends, and all the u-joints, obviously. they both have 12" of slip and all tubing is the .120 (1 ton + style shafts). ill post pics when they come

I paid like $780 or so for both of mine with CV's need to have them redone they are too short now so I expect to pay a bunch more.

How are you balancing the ones you made. I think we all would make our own if we could balance them.

Once the shaft is welded up, drill a small hole in the tube and put a few ounces of ATF inside then weld up the hole.

Its dynamic balancing, just like using equal (or airsoft pellets) in tires.

Could you do that with the rear? I am all for making things myself. That atf is a great idea. I will be using it for my new front.

im all for making/doing things for myself too, but stuff like driveshafts... ill let the pros handle that. the will most likely be the weakest part of my drivetrain, so i want to make sure they are done right
