i need one shaft shortened and one lengthened .. about how much would this cost to have done. i don't want to do it my self. not so good with the welder

front one need to be shortened by 2 inches
the rear needs to be about 4 inches longer

how much do you think this would cost ??

Pricing is relative to where you live. Here in the San Francisco bay area of California to have a shaft shortened and rebalanced is about $80.00-$100.00 and to retube a shaft and rebalance is closer to $125.00-$150.00 depending on the tube needed.

I think I spent $30 each to have mine shortend. For the front I went to the junkyard and found a longer one with the correct ends, then had that one shortend. That was cheaper than having the stock one lengthend.

i just had mine retubed 3 weeks ago, with one new end put on and balanced ....i paid 150.00

I own an automotive machine shop here in Fremont. I don't do shortening or lengthening or balancing of driveshafts but i do replace u-joints and double cardin joints. The closest place for shortening or retubing a driveshaft is going to be Driveline service in San Leandro off of Marina/Teagarden 510-352-5200
