i know that its capable of making the trip with out a doubt only thing im worry about are the trails like if their are any for beginers

Yes, there are trails like that. Gemini Bridges, Chicken Corners, Shafer Switchbacks, Long Canyon, Fins'n Things, Dome Plateau, Porcupine Rim or SevenMile Rim come to mind... also TipToe Behind the Rocks. But I won't be at the Bash, so:

As with most Moab trails, there's usually a significant distance to town, and/or the next parts store/gas station/pharmacy/etc.. It's not like an offroad park in the Midwest.
In fact, that is one thing I like out there: big country that is hard to fit in a camera...

Well, unfortunately it was time to turn south and head home - we didn't want to be on UT191 again right away, so we chose the Lockhart Basin trail - about 60 miles between McDonalds in Moab, and UT211 in the Needles section of Canyonlands National Park:
Shade was at a premium for lunch, but we found a pretty good spot:
Looking west, the high Mesa on the horizon is Island in the Sky of Canyonlands National Park. The Colorado River is somewhere in between - you'll get to figure out where...
This was a memorable trip, with a pretty good photo yield to boot.
Driving to Moab isn't nearly the big production that it's usually made out to be... just hop in the truck, and go.
Of course, if your truck is so badass that it can only go on trails, but not on anything in between - well, then, you're on your own.
Racecars, naturally, are excluded from that statement...

We are planning a trip back to White Pocket, sometime in the fall, maybe at T-Day:

I'm contemplating to be there in the winter, when there is snow.
However, the remoteness of the location, conditions of the trails, and disposition of my trail mate (aka my wife Claudia...) might all be against me on that plan...

Tusher Tunnel looks just like Jordan at the entrance to Petra...amazing....

But my goal for the next trip is to tell everyone to f... off and leave me alone while I'm setting up a tripod and a remote flash

I really appreciate the pics, reminds me of "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade"... But Tusher Tunnel is NOT a slot canyon - the good ones are ~ 200 miles further south...
But: part of my motivation to drive that old K5 of mine is to see things I wouldn't be able to see otherwise. So, I get the pics from Jordan...

... and if you're near 6', you'll hit your head pretty good if you'd try to just walk thru... just ask some of my buddies...

So, an almost complete map of our travels (starting at Marble Canyon, and ending at the intersection of Hwy 89 and 160) looked like this:
Missing is the trip down Spring Canyon. From the end of the Lockhart trail (red track), we took Hwy 211 to Hwy 191 to Mexican Hat, and had dinner at the Swinging Steak... across the Rez to Flagstaff the next day (with a drive-by at Wupatki National Monument just north of Flagstaff), and back home to Fountain Hills.

I still find it utterly funny that the first reply to my initial post was "What bumper is that?"
I tried (hard...) to remain polite and at the same time to give ORD their due, but come on, really, that's what's important? A freaking piece of steel, compared to the best red rock views the Southwest of America has to offer? And I'm not referring to my photos, I'm simply referring to the map I posted...
Somehow, that narrow-minded viewpoint seems to be paradigmatic of a whole lot of CK5. I hope the photos tell the story why the bumper is the least important part of the entire trip.
If people still want the bumper, call ORD, and tell them that I endorse their front bumper. Stephen will get to laugh his ass off

beautiful photos man, really makes me miss my photo equipment. i know what you mean about tripods, id strap mine to my backpack time after time and it only got in the way. you do some great work, i'd love to see more.
i'd love to do something like that trip one day when i get my suburban running. you and i have similar philosophies when it comes to vehicles. i'd rather have an expedition-worthy truck thats built but not a trail only rig, that i can drive for days at a time and not have any problems. that's what i'm aiming for with my suburban anyway.

As I said earlier, because of the CK5 policy (and most other boards', for that matter...) on intellectual property with respect to images posted on the site, I can't post anything that I think is worthwhile printing, and hanging on some wall, or be part of some display, without risking a future conflict. And while I may be the only one thinking that those images are actually worth printing at large size, some of those photos have actually made it to public places... can't/won't post them here, but I'll be happy to share the GPS tracks ...

Possible, things are in the works... but at this time I have no intention of becoming a vendor on CK5

Is this true of images linked here from a photobucket account? I may need to rethink some I've added...I'd like to start making some money with my photos at some point and I've shared some of my favorites on here.
BTW I was silently following this thread (not sure why) but wanted to say that it looked like and absolutely AWESOME trip. Very cool man, and great shots

I'm not sure about linked images. I just remember the old statement by Performance Media Group as being rather stringent, as in "...everything posted on CK5 becomes property of Performance Media Group and CK5...".
As the original artist, you always have full rights to the artwork until you expressly sign them away. I just prefer exclusive rights up to that point. Now, this may all just be paranoia on my part, and I haven't looked into the exact legal aspects of enforcing claims, and all of it may be moot anyway because of low/no interest... I just don't want to deal with any issues down the line.

That makes sense. I'll try to dig up some info on it, but I guess for now I'll keep on keepin on (Joe Dirt style
) until the prospects of me actually doing something with my photography gets a little brighter.
