Drop steering arm ?

Ok, so ive wound up going 6in on my lift, so ive had to start looking at all the other stuff ill need to do. Including a drop steering arm. I didnt learn anything about these cuz with the 4in lift i wasnt gonna need it.

So heres my confusion, all the drop arms ive found thus far for a blazer, have been for D44 axles ONLY. where do i find a drop steering arm for a D60 axle???

I also know ill need brake lines, and I will be doing SD shocks, and when i do my trans/tc replacement ill wind up doing CV driveshafts too. anything else major that im brainfarting on????

you have the terms mixed up.

a drop arm is for the pitman arm thats on the steering box. end.

a raised arm is for the axle end like a dana 44 and corp 10 bolt. thay use the same arm.

i have run a drop pitman arm for 4" drop/lift correction on a 6" lift before with a dana 60 no major problems.

but you might want to look in to crossover judgeing by the 6" lift sd shocks and long brake lines. sounds like you plan on flexing a bit. and stock push/pull will be basicly no good with that combo. crossover would be much better.

It drives me nuts when people say "drop steering arm" instead of "raised".

Its very simple. The arm is going "up" as in "raised". If you were to lower a truck back to the stock stance and it had a raised arm on it, then you would look for a drop arm, or stock as most of us call it.

ahhhhh thanks for clearing that up guys. I hadnt had any reason to get learned on that stuff. time to start looking again

crossover is definatly where id like to go, but im just lookin for the quick and dirty way to keep the truck driveable once i do the suspension/axles/tires. just gotta get through inspection

its listed for 2-4in lift, maybe ill do a drop PITMAN arm, AND a raised STEERING arm ........ see, see, im learning

you dont want a raised arm for the 60. waste of money.

if you want to go that far and spend that much go crossover.

its simple. get a 2wd steering box from a doner truck. bolt it on.

get a simple crossover kit and bolt it on. http://www.offroaddesign.com/catalog/Dana60crossover.htm

then go have fun.

a drag link on a stock push pull needs a slight drop from front to back. if you correct to far then it wont steer correctly.

and a cheep way to to get a raised arm for a dana 60 is find a stock dodge dana 60 arm. then send it out and have it retapered to the gm size and on the top side.

but for all this work / time / money crossover is better spent and no further mods needed basicly.

I did the same thing. I sent mine to Kert at DIY4x and he did the job for very reasonable.
