I know what a 1009 is, but what are the differences for the other three numbers?

1008 - 1-ton Pickup w/ Detroit Locker
1009 - Blazer
1010 - Ambulance on 1008 chassis
1028 - 1008 Pickup + limited slip in the front (for carrying shelters)
1031- cab/chassis model

The models all share a bunch of parts, and a casual glance isn't always enough to distinguish the normal pickup from the special models.

1031 is generally a contact maintenance truck or you would say toolbox body truck.

I believe that the 1028 also has the 205

Front & rear 3/4 ton keeping the M274 Military Mule from blowing away until I can get them under the '79.

Dickhead neighbor's wife called code enforcement for junk vehicles in my driveway. So pulled the Mule around back, put collector tags on the '77. This was probably 2014-2015 when I was able to move around better.

I just purchased a 1008 from Gov Planet. No cancer on the body, minimal surface rust underside and minor dents and dings in a "Desert Sand" color with 55K on the odo. I'm (trying) to get the registration here in California completed (I know, I know) but he DMV thinks this is a tank! The items they want to register it are sooooo stupid. So far I'm in the registration $501.00 (Yes, you read that right!) for a 1986 pickup! All of you outside the Socialist State of Kalifornia count your blessings!

So what are they requiring that cost that much?
I know you have to pay some tax that was never paid because it was tax exempt. Never bought a surplus vehicle but I know there's a little more involved.

Colorado was californicated years ago.

DMV is requiring a Title from Washington State because it was stored there! CA DMV wants a certified weight slip, VIN verification from CHP (no cost). Oh, BTW, I would require a "one day moving permit" to get some of these requirements done. But Wait, there is more!!! I cannot get a permit unless I pay the $501 fee upfront!!! Uh, excuse me, but the military does not register/title their vehicles in any state nor do they title them by Federal standards. When was the last time you saw a convoy driving down the road and how many had license plates? I would not be surprised if Kalifornia started ticketing military vehicles in a convoy (or other) and asking for their insurance coverage too!

I paid city and state taxes on the vehicle because it was sold in Washington State to Washington state. CA DMV states that would be deducted from any taxes due to Kalifornia...Yeah...Right. This CV pandemic has most transactions going thru mail back and forth so I have not had any opportunity to discuss this with a live person...like that would do any good! Gotta make an "appointment" by phone. I spent the better part of one week trying to get thru which I finally did. The person stated that it would be "about 6 weeks" before an appointment is available and I gave them 4 offices close to me to choose from. Go Figure!

So, USPS is the courier for now and the beat goes on! Color me stressed out!!!
