Hey guys,
I'm ready to get some billstein 5100s, but I have an issue. I have duals up front.

How do I mount a single in this bracket?

Thanks!

You remove the outer shock and outer most bracket from the frame, and that's really it as far as I can tell. Single shocks mount between the inner mount and the frame at the top, and the bottom mount is fairly self explanatory

Looks like you will need to unbolt that upper outside mount and re bolt it in the original holes moving it closer to the frame. The bottom one, the shock will go in the middle of the mount not on the outsides of it. That upper mount may of been changed from stock (Longer) for the dual setup If it is too long I have some stock ones laying around.

Maybe it's a bad pic, but there's only one mount with a long bolt for both shocks. I'm confused...ImageUploadedByTapatalk1350256568.272540.jpg

Remove the outboard shock, use a shorter bolt (stud) for the top...move the bottom of the inboard shock between those 2 tabs, use a proper sized bolt, viola! You're there...:waytogo:

edit: you don't need the outboard bracket for single shocks...

Damn... Now that makes sense! Thanks ;)

Three more quick questions, I don't need to worry about only having one 5100 up there right? Why dual anyway?

Also, do bilstein rear shocks work up front? Are they universal?

And... When I remove old shocks will they be under pressure/load? Do I need to worry about losing an extremity?

;)

Thanks

You need these stock ones that SBD has lying around. Remove the top outer bracket, outboard shock, and that hexagonal spacer. Install the stock outer bracket (from SBD) and a stock spacer (can use washers if you can't get the spacer) and your new shock. The stock outer bracket mounts in the hole above the outboard shock in the first pic and the hole below it that is hidden by the outboard shock. As for the lower, just strip everything off of the mount and put the new shock between the ears of the bracket (may need a spacer or washers for that too).

There may be a bit of pressure, but shocks move slowly, especially old ones. You don't have to worry. ;)
