i was given a Jeep the other day. I'd love to keep it & make a mini 4x4 go cart but it has to go. Anyway, this thing looks like it has dual rear outputs on the transfer case? What do you all think of this?

Dana 18 with a pto is what it looks like. There's also an overdrive unit for those that bolt on where that second output is but I don't think they have a flange like that.

Dana 18s have an offset rear output so the one that has the shaft attached is the normal rear output.

I've seen an old military Jeep with a PTO ,it had a backhoe attatchment on it!..they used them to power generators and other things like farm equipment back in the day..pretty cool IMO!..

Not sure what the gear is for but I know some of them had driveline brakes. Don't know if they were just parking brakes or not but it may have something to do with that.

I really wish I could afford to keep this thing & play around with it. It really is a pretty cool little chunk of steel. So much for thought went into something so simple & it worked so well.

The google says it's a CJ2A/3A trenching setup

"Quick lesson, the Jeep T-case is placed in neutral during trenching with either of the trenchers. There is a drive shaft from the trencher that connects to the drum brake via a added ring gear and "Swing" gear to propel the Jeep forward, referred to as "travel." :the transfer case is being driven, just by an alternate source."

I will let him know. That's for the whole thing, right? Can you give me the full list of what's included. He retires these things.

That would explain the 20 leaf rear leaf spring pack! 20 may be an exaggeration but there are a ton of springs back there.

Thanks a rare item and needs to be saved.

Years ago I worked on a flatfender that had a rear mounted pto that powered a sickle bar used to mow along roads.

Honestly I just wanted to save it from going to scrap. Hopefully it will pay for the horse drawn sickle bar mower I bought for my yard. I hate seeing iron like this go to scrap.
