so i got the truck running, but i think i only have low gear, heres the deal
i have 3 shifters
if i have the 1st shifter pulled towards the rear of the truck, the truck drives, but its punchy! i assume this is low rear wheel drive
i have to have the other 2 shifters to teh rear also i think to function properly, i'm going to pull the dual transfer cases tomorrow and open them up to see whats wrong. anyone think i might have left something small like a spring out or something?

Do i even make any since? lol

You need to find which shifter controls the 203. You will be able to have it forward or back (high-low) independent from the 205 shifters. Do you have a picture of your shifter set-up on the t-case. That would help a bunch.

Assuming you have a chevy d60. I'll say that the 203 shifter is closest to the driver, then it will be the rear shifter rail for the 205 and then the front rail for the 205. ( I assume this because mine is the oposite because I have ford d60 and 205.)

So if that is the case the 203 shifts independent of the 205 (high-neutral-low)

Don't remember who's picture this is but it might help you some....203 closest to the driver then the rear then the front

that looks right. but my problem seems to be no high gear. in the 203 only, the 205 may work correct, i havent tested high and low

I can't think of anything you could forget in the 203 so it wouldn't shift besides the shift fork. It's hard to diagnose with out seeing it or being there tho :doah:

Did it work out of the truck on the bench?

it shifted, i cant recall if i spun the input and output though. :doah: i can put it in neutral, but if i push the shifter forward weather its in park or gear, nothing happens

Wonder if it is binding somewhere? Can you unhook the shifter and manually shift the 203 (have the center hump out?)

You might have to pull it then.

I'm out of ideas :( Sorry :1zhelp:

Don't know if I can help much but I just got done with a 400/203/205 ORD doubler with triple stick. It's sittin on the floor in my basement and I can shift from low-N-high in the 203 with just that little bent 1/4 steel bracket, very easy. Does the 203 shifter move into the position where high should be, or does it stop short?

Good luck, Jeff

my triple stick the closest to you is the 203 all the way forward is low. When I put mine in it took hours to get all the linkages/shifters to work properly among a few bad words. Make sure the bolts underneath for the shifter linkage are not binding on each other. All 3 of my bolts are going opposite of each other wich makes the shifter throw adjustment very touchy. because everything is so close its almost like the bolts are too long but they can't be any shorter. Hope this helps....

If you put the linkage on the 203 upside down then when you shift to HI you would be in LOW. The shift linkage should be toward the ground not toward the floor board.

If you bought it at ORD, then call them. they have always been very helpful to me on questions regarding their products

Did you have the 203 range box apart or did you just ditch all the useless stuff?

I lost one of the 2 million needle bearings down in my range box and had to tear the whole thing down  sucked much!

Jeff
