Hey yall I'm looking into getting a set of 1tons for my 82k5. They are currently in a 85 crew cab non cab chassis truck. My question is. I want the king pin front and 70 rear but curious if anyone has ran dually diffs single wheel (without) h1 wheels. And if so how far out did the rear hubs stick out? Did you need wheel spacers? I'm stuck because I don't want a d44 front as it isn't any stronger than the stock other than everything from the hub out. I've got a guy wanting to sell me the d60 kingpin front with d70 rear for 1200 but want to know if people have done it? I've bean reading for 3 days straight trying to figure this out. I just don't want my right to be too wide or have the rear hubs sticking out past the hubs! Thanks guys.

Run 2" wheel spacers on the single wheel front and a wheel with 5" backspace. That will match the 70 rear well. But you need to swap hubs.
Non h1 wheels will look ridiculous on a dual wheel front hub.

Hubs stick out a bit but managable.

srw front to drw front is +4" per side rim stick out .

rear drw dana 70 is wide yes will stick out a bit more then regular .

You keep mentioning how much the rear hub sticks out, are you talking about how much the hub snout will stick out? If so, it won't stick out beyond the rim unless you run a really narrow wheel (like a stock wheel).

That's exactly what I'm concerned about. If the front is 4" wider than stock per side that's perfect because I am looking for a wider footprint. That would make sence and I was even thinking if it did they make wheel spacers for dually rears.

You'll have to look closely but here's a pic of how a D70HD rear hub sticks out with a 12" wide wheel with 4.5" back spacing. The rear hub doesn't stick out as much as the front SRW hub.

It sure also be said that in stock form the D70HD will have a more narrow WMS than its matching dually D60. To match track widths the rear wheel hubs will need to be swapped for some off of an SRW 14 bolt (the wheel mounting flange is further out on these).

I have a friend that ran regular wheels on a dually D60, where my tires only have the outer row of tread sticking out, the dually axle made 3/4 of the tire stick out from under the body. I have a pic somewhere but I have to find it.

That's about the look and width I'm looking for.

I noticed that, because the wheel is so far out from the pivot point, when he turns the tire actually rolls some front to rear in sweeping arch. Need to be careful that you factor clearance at full lock steering when setting ride height.

I had a DRW60 front and 4.5" bs 8" wide wheels for awhile till I could afford H1's and it was stupid wide. Hard to turn, hard to fit anywhere and kinda funny looking. Why do you want such a wide track?

Hers a picture with 35s, sorry its hard to see with it flexed. If I remember right the track was over 8'

My cousin ran with dually hubs on the front of his 60 for a while until he could find a set or SRW hubs. It was way wide. I don't think I have any pics with the front tires on, but this give you an idea of the WMS differences, The rear axle is out of a cab/chassis truck I believe....it has a narrower WMS measurement than the normal truck axles do.

Note, there is a tire on the rear axle in the first picture, it's just in the shade.

That's a good point I never thought abou!

mainly because our trucks are so tall and narrow they can get a little tippy. and I went wheeling with a buddy of mine and his jeep was super wide and I loved how stable it was. he was on 41" tires as well.

awesome thank you. this was exactly what I was looking for. that front looks like it would be the perfect width. but yeah steering would be weird.

I think there is a lot more then track width going on in your buddys jeep when it comes to stability. So a 41" tire is probably a 14.5" wide tire and up in the 40" range they probably weigh about 90lbs plus a wheel. Add the weight of the 60 plus a one ton rear end and thats a lot of weight down low. In my opinion you will loose more maneuverability then you gain in stability running that wide. Unless all you run is mud in which case carry on. Steering in tight spaces sucked with my setup. I dont know what size tires/wheels you plan on running but do some math and lay a tape measure out near you front end and see how wide it is.

I just checked and I was running 4" bs not 4.5" so the outside rim to outside rim was 85" wide. 7' not 8'

Dually hub stock & then dually hub with 2" spacers. I hated how far the snout stuck out with no spacers. I watched a you tube video the other day of a guy with a Burb with Dually hubs & wide wheels. He tried to pull out a stuck vehicle & the mechanical leverage of that wheel & tire sticking so far out from the pivot bent his tie rod.
