Dually axle.

I was in a local junk yard today and found a few old 4x4 tow trucks. I may be stupid in asking but what in envolved in turning a dually axle into a single wheel axle.

switching the dually hubs with srw hubs

or getting the dually hubs machined.

It is the rear axle I am wondering about. Can you just bolt a single rim on there?

all depends on what the axle was out of, how wide the WMS to WMS is, and what the backspacing on the wheels is.

im my instance I used a D70 froma 77K30 dually and bolted a 16x8 rim on it with a 38" super swamper

yes you can

technically the drums are different, but you can still bolt singles on a dual or the other way around, if your spring packs will clear

If its a non C&C (cab and chassis) 14 bolt, then you just have to swap brake drums to make it a single wheel.
