I just bought a 79 Chevy 1 ton Dually 4wd, but I haven't seen the truck yet. It is a 350/4spd truck, not sure on Tcase. Someone told me that alot of the 1ton's w/ a 350 are 4.56 gear trucks???
Does anyone know what gears the truck most likely would have? The guy selling it doesn't have a clue, and the curiosity is killing me since I can't go get it for a few days.

Most likely 4:10 or 4:56 and yes 4:56's were in a lot of them. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Sweet, I am kind of hoping it is a 4.56 truck! What is the difference between the dually rearend and the 3/4 ton FF14 that I currently have? If it is a 4.56 truck is it easier to swap the gears out of that rearend into my truck, or make that dually rearend work in mine and leave the gears in it?

Yeah, a good chance it has 4.56's. I had a '77 1-ton SRW Crew Cab that came factory with a SB400, and according to the factory option sticker, it had 4.56's originally.

If that '79 is a Dually, I think it would be a Dana 70 rear, rather than a 14 bolt.
