Thought I'd post some pics of the before and after effects of the hub conversion. I picked up the hub assembly from GMdirect, they included rotors, studs, and races. The best part was the cost, ~$320 delivered to my door.

I would have shown dissassembly/assembly steps but it is really freakin' easy. SweetK30 helped me out (props to him). He showed me the trick of leaving the one locking/adjust nut on the spindle to pull the rear bearing and seal out, works awesome!

Here's just the spindle with the seal and bearing, pretty clean!

With the condition those are in, might as well have just replaced them. All new parts is a good comfort too.

Looks good! For the external condition of that axle the internal parts look pretty good.

nice trick for the rear seal, no need to get a perfectly good screwdriver all greasy!

yeah, everything you see was included. I can't remember the site off-hand but I think it was GMpartdirect.com or GMdirectparts.com

Definitely worth the money in my opinion...

I know this was a simple thread and some may not see the value, but as a newbie I searched for this to see what I was getting into prior to buying the hub assembly and didn't come up with anything... so I posted some pics for others to reference.

definitely A good point of reference.i like the rear seal bearing on the spindle nut trick.i will try this next time i repack and check my bearings.

Will trade.....

I have a set of dana 60 locking front hubs single wheel off of a 92 dodge ram 2500 diesel that I parted for just about everyting to stick under my 74 Winnie brave. The winnie is all done except for the gear swap in the rear end and the dually rims on the front. I will trade the single wheel locking hubs for the dually locking hubs. Everything is in excellent condition... i have been driving the Winnie for about a month now. Hunting season is comming up and I need to mount my rims on the front and get some new tires and alignment.

Guess I'm confused, the locking hubs are the same... For example, the dually lock-outs fit right into my new single wheel hubs. Maybe I don't understand what you're asking.

This is an excellent post! At the time I did mine it was like $500cdn a side for the hub/rotor/bearing combo. Then it made sense to machine the hub and find studs to fit it. I would buy these in a heartbeat if I was doing it again...

I have a quick question, I have to do the same thing to my D60 but all I have is the SRW hubs w/o rotors/studs. Do I have to get new rotors and studs or can I reuse the old?

you need studs for srw style.

and new srw rotors. the holes i have heard are a little diffrent from drw to srw were the studs / bolts hold the rotors to the hub.

and i would do new rotors as its all off and do it 1 time not 2 times.
