dumb founded

yes.

Just got home and talked to the guy I got from and he told me it came out of a 78 blazer with 350 motor and 350 trans with np205 tc.

I just took the adapter I built out and noticed that the back of the 4L80E looks to be sealed up. Do I even need a seal?

yes the seals are in the adapter case.

I've tried the 78-80 K10 and Blazer but they give the same seal. One store gave me another seal that would fit into the adapter but I would have to have a 1.937" shaft. So that is not the seal that I need. I think that seal might fit the 350 trans and my other 27 spline shaft that require the coupler between them.

I'm just going to machine it out tomorrow and call it good.

The 4l80e trans has a seal at the back, before the tail housing. So I could go without the seal.

I have not decided yet if I'm going to run ATF in the TC or not. I've heard taht I can run either ATF or gear oil.

There are two adapters. one has a bearing in it the other does not. I had to go to oriellys. and look thru the seal catalog my self so i know they have them just trying to help there is a round rubber oring type seal on the output of trans that seals the stub.
[with bearing] this is all on a t350

GM used the bearing in the adapter in the old stuff then got rid of it, no real change in design.

Basically that bearing was not necessary.

GM used ATF in 205's for many years, it's not quite as good for the gears as 80W-90 but it's more efficient and will probably still last several hundred thousand miles.
