You're crazy! There were plenty more options then than there are now. And you could get just about everything piece-meal, you didn't have to buy dumb packages like they make you do now.

Just think, in 1969 when my Blazer was made you could order any of 3 engines, 4 transmissions, 2 transfer cases, 3 different size clutches, 2 different axle ratios, and Eaton posi LSDs. Bumpers? How about Chrome or painted. Body side mouldings? On or off, your pick. Tinted or untinted glass. Tilt or non-tilt steering column. Cruise control, AM/FM radio, CB radio. 3 different choices of gauge clusters. Skidplates. Dealer-installed PTO winch and bumper. Heck if you wanted to get a Blazer with nothing but a driver's seat you could get it. The passenger seat, rear seat, as well as the hardtop were options. Then with the top you could get single or double-wall, white or black.

See where I am going with this? People think they have choices today. LOL.

Who wears panties? I'm not offended, I just think it's crazy that because they seem spartan by today's standards most people would think that old trucks were bare-bones. I would rather order a stripped truck than a loaded truck nowadays, much less to go wrong. Too much BS on the included equipment at base price drives the price of vehicles through the roof. Most vehicles cannot be had *without* auto transmissions, power windows/doorlocks, climate control, etc.

It is really hard to get a vehicle with a manual transmission anymore. I hate that. I hate automatics. My last new truck (my 2001 Nissan Frontier) was a 4-month special order because I was not paying for anything I didn't want. Most people have no idea how to wait that long; they want instant gratification and that's why all the special orders have gone away in favor of "convenience" packages that bundle tons of worthless crap together so you can pay for all of it to get the one option you really wanted.

Back on Topic, here's what I found defining the CST package for pickups, not sure how close it is for Blazers:

Z84 CST includes;
Stepside pickups and Cab/Chassis trucks;
Full depth foam seat with delux vinyl trim
carpeting
door trim panels with chrome retainers
chromed front bumper
Cigarette lighter
Headliner
Cargo lamp
Bright condtrol knobs and pedal trim, rear window trim,wing vent trim,and windshield moulding trim
CST fender name plates
Bright side marker lamps/reflectors
Door operated dome light switches
special insulation.
Fleetsides or Longhorn models recieved all that plus;
lower body side mouldings with wood grain inserts
Wood grain tailgate panel
Tail light trim
Bright fuel filler cap

sry to get spastic, i agree to some extent with you. i love manual and you know what chevy did in 07 on the new HD trucks. Removed the manual trans all together from the line. 6.0 liter 6spd auto or the 6.6 diesel with allison auto. which i really like the new 3500 so i would probly settle for the 6.6 with the allison (which is the strongest auto out there). but i dont wana spend 40K on a truck right now.
Back to the question at hand. Thank you for the info on the CST package, I was just kind of curious as to what the package was and what it stood for. thanks again
