Dump-bee the k30, Now with 50% less dump!

Sweet! I am still undecided what to do with my flatbed farm truck. 4x4 dump truck is on my list of possible ways to go.

Gonna try to resurrect a 1954 Dodge 3 ton dump truck my brother-in-law has for moving dirt on my farm. It's pretty much all original. 331 hemi I think he figured and a brownie and 2 speed rear axle. It's in really good shape and just been sitting for a long time at his place.

Went for a drive to Iowa today....

Big thanks to @shady for keeping dumpy out of the scrap yard.
Anyone who hasn't met Rick, I'll tell you right now he's a real stand up guy. Thanks Rick.

Went I got home I played with the new skid loader a bit, push the bee to meet it's new friend.

Anyway I guess dump-bee lives to see another day.

Hey... I forgot to mention that the gas tank on that has like nearly 14-16 gallons of recent gas in it lol. Sitting like that you might want to make sure it's not siphoning out all over the drive :waytogo:

Huh, me and my old man had quite the discussion about that tank, the running gear has an ear that was sticking up and wanted to go through the tank. I said it was fine, it's probably dead empty, and he said oh it could have some in it.....

I guess he was right, but I won't tell him that....

I filled it up when there was snow on the ground, and drove it maybe 10 or 20 miles since

So what's the plan? Swapping all the dump truck stuff and running gear to the bee or swapping the cab onto your current frame?

Got an extra minute to write a few things down.

So basically I plan to rebuild, fix everything that is wrong with this old beast. My goal is to use as much crap as I have laying around without buying that much. I do plan on rebuilding the hydraulic cylinder for the dump bed, and probably rebuild the plow pump just so those things are better off and I don't have to worry about them. I am not worrying about outward appearance right now but I'll be painting alot of stuff as it goes. The 350 runs fine but has a quadrajet that has some issues. It left me stranded. Not sure what I'll do about that, I have a couple quadrajets, Holley, Eddy's, and even a carter carb on the Chevelle that would work. But I was also thinking about a stock tbi system or maybe even aftermarket. Everything leaks so I'll deal with some of that. Basically just alot of "making it right".

It needs a big block something bad. Maybe @shady has one laying around?
But I'm not sure I am up for a swap this go around. It will probably stay a small block, buy damn I really dislike 350s.

I have the full tbi setup from my burb...
The one I couldn't figure out how to make run. Every part was very new when it came off. And TB is modified with the usual mods.

I have the dizzy, intake, tbi, most sensors, brackets, ECM, wiring harness (suspected culprit since it was the only thing not new or rebuilt), Salad bowl intake, plus anything else that had to do with the FI, except the pump....

Fuel injection will come last. But I'll keep it in mind that you still that worthless stuff around.

So after it left me on the side of the Rd. I had to have it towed. That was the last time it will leave me stranded.

With the tow and the cab purchase I am up $1750.50 in total investment.

Good plan. That's how my farm truck is. Reliable but not perfect. Starts every time and won't strand me somewhere but the speedo cable or speedo makes terrible noise driving and it needs seat belts and the windows don't roll down. It would be perfect if it had a dump bed and plow like yours with the current big block and the crew cab. I like trucks like this that are useful but not perfect. Just a cool old farm truck.
