Received my 1987 V3500 dually with dump body installed. Will eventually put a dually bed back on it. Meanwhile it has this dump that works well and will be handy for now. Upon servicing and greasing, I found a spot of concern. It is the lower pivot point attachment for the lift cylinder. It is part of the sleeve that wraps the attachment tube that bridges from frame rail to frame rail. I would term it as a bump stop but I'm sure the term is incorrect. It's not grass but appeared as such. A bunch of tightly packed grass. It's in the cavity forward of the tube and rear of the three vertical studs. There appears to be little left of what I believe was originally there.

Can anyone enlighten me, trade term, function, where to buy replacement?

Is it come kind of dried out rubber, or would something like a hdpe work as a replacement maybe.

I gotta say it... That thing needs a bath!

You're right. I have dedicated clothes to work on this thing. Although, we're in the heart of the salt belt here. Many of these trucks couldn't survive ten years before nearly folding in two. This truck has been oil undercoated for twenty years and it plowed in the salt. The oil is awful but the saving grace of the truck. It still has original rockers and cab corners nearly thirty years later and yes, the frame is good too!
