Easiest way to replace rear spring bushings?

Did you lower thr front section of the springs only?

I removed the spring from the axle and from the frame at the front, the rear was connected. I expected to be able to align the front back up because the shackle moves, but even with the shackle flat forward it wouldn't reach. Plus I realized that the full movement of the shackle is limited by the bolt hitting the frame (the bolt that connects the spring to the shackle).

Sounds like the wrong springs. Do you have a shackle flip also? If so could be that someone installed the brackets flopped from side to side to run a 56" spring and with a 52" it isn't correct. How was the shackle angle with the weight of the vehicle on the springs?

I'm the only one who has ever messed with this truck. My dad bought it new and I got it in factory stock form. I bought 4" lift springs and put them on. The shackle is pretty much vertical usually, if I remember right. It's still apart now.

I've used a loop of chain bolted around the leafs ,and slid a long bar or heavy pipe thru the loop of chain under the leafs, and had a helper bear down on it to flatten the arch out enough so the bolt could be inserted..was stll a S.O.B. to do ,but it was the only way we could manage doing it in my back yard..
