Eaton ignorant.........

IIRC...Ring gear diameter is 10 1/8 and axle shaft diameter is 1.55. I have read somewhere that some shafts are flared to 1.75 but I have never seen any like this. Mine do not flare out and are 1.55.
Try to find one with a No-spin in it since you can not buy a new one. You can change one out pretty easy but you would still have to find a third memeber with a No-Spin used. The gear ratio is pretty limitted (3:90, 4:10 and 4:56. IIRR) and some people say you can still get new gears for them but I have never seen any avilable.
Originally, you could only get 4.11, 4.57, and 5.14 in the Eaton. There was an aftermarket 3.90 set available, but like you said I can't find them either. Jim Carter classic trucks used to have 3.90's and 4.11's, but I couldn't find them in there. If you dig into some old TSM's, they even say there was a 5.83 available, but under the P30 chassis only.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is there are 3 widths of Eatons. 63" WMS,65" WMS and 70" WMS {Rare} The 63"s were in earlier trucks and duallys, the 65"s were the standard width from the early 60's{I think}-72' and the 70"s were in box trucks. I picked up one of them with 4.10s and a
No-Spin a couple yrs back :D . It's the same width as a D60.

Splines

Here is a pic of what the axle splines looked like after the last time I worked on the Eaton axle in my plow/tow truck. Just a little hammered on one side of all the splines so I swapped em out since I have spares.

Here is the Eaton in my 69 K20 - it has 4.56's and a factory No-Spin.

If a 14FF detroit fits, will 14ff Ring&Pinion fit? No one has said, I doubt it, but it would be nice. :D

Nope there is like a .05 difference in diameter. And prolly not the same bolt ring. You still use the eaton carrier just put the 14FF detroit inside it.

Would be nice for the gear selection though eh?:D

Maybe I could make it work. Have to look at it. Got machine shop? :D

They have a different # of ring gear bolts, so you probably could do it...but I don't see an advantage. 14 bolt has, well, 14...eaton has 12.

Every junkyard Ive ever been to has at least two of them sitting on the ground, and for a wheeler I don't see why you'd need anything but 4.11's, 4.57's, and 5.14's.

Oh, and the 14 bolt detroit DOES fit inside the Eaton carrier. They look almost identical, except for the aforementioned differences. I didnt put the axle back together, but it does fit in the carrier.

Uh the 14 bolt has 14 bolts on the cover but only 12 on the ring gear.

Wow! brainfart. They both have 12.

I don't know if the pattern is the same, I guess try for it!
