Early this spring I swapped an Edelbrock carb and intake onto the stock 305 in my 86. I cant remember how I hooked up the cable to the carb but do remember I had to "rig" something.
Is there a "good" way to do this?
What did you guys do?

OK I finally got back into the truck to get it going for the winter. I used the stock bracket that holds the cable. Bolted it to the intake-Holley street dominator. The actuall connection of the cable to the carb is with a home made bracket that bolts to the carb linkage and connected it to a screw in the bracket. Basically I would have had to stretch the cable too far and there was no stud to hook the cable too. If I remember right I could not get the stud out of the stock carb.
