Paul you know me and you know i don't take sides or single anyone out unless it is only them /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, you have a point. I'm sorry, I didn't really see it as bickering, but I guess it could be looked at as such. I see I got alittle defencive when the bling master started in on the spelling thang.

i dont think any one said any thing about the holley stuff i dont have much info on them but they look real colse to edelbrock and it is some thang to look in to /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Paul, I just want you to learn how to spell better. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

i am currently running a holley street dominator on my big block i chose it because it has the square carb pattern instead of the spreadbore-squarebore dual pattern that the performer has. less chance of vacuum leaks, i have run both holley and edelbrock on my smallblocks with no problems. i would stick with a lowrise dual plane whichever brand you choose. a trail truck-daily driver rarely sees over 4000 rpm unless you mud! so the performer would work great /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I havent heard a lot about Weind or Holley either(I think they are the same company basically) but would imagine their stealth stuff is about the same quality as Edel. For roughly $100 you can't beat a performer intake by Edel IMHO...

I run an edelbrock performer manifold and the #1407 750 cfm carb and have never had a problem nor have I had to adjust them out of the box other than idle adjustments. While you won't really feel a difference from a manifold change. And you might feel the difference from a carb swap. I agree with wayne that your biggest difference will be felt in a cam swap.

If you like Edelbrock and want to use their stuff you may want to look into their power package. They have a performer power package which consists of carb, manifold, cam, and heads which is supposed to be matched for performance. You can just add them a piece at a time.

Now for what the other 90% of this thread turned in to... Stating your edelbrock bashing is like the thornbird bashing here is inaccurate. To date I don't think I have seen 1 person defend the thornbirds. It is generally accepted that they look good and work like crap. On the other hand there are probably hundreds of members here that use and like edelbrock parts. So either these hundreds of people are morons who cannot tell a good part from a bad one. Or they're not.

Also it lends credence to an argument when you use proper spelling and grammar. So pointing it out is basically saying "how can he know about this if he can't even spell it right". That's also not very accurate. I know a guy that can throw down a paint job like nobodies business and can't read a word. Unfortunatly in the cyber world your credibility is directly proportionate to your ability to express yourself without reading like a boob.

And that's all I have to say about that.

[/ QUOTE ] I haven't had any personal experience with their cams but they are a little on the small side. If I remember the performer cam was like 393" or something on the exhaust side. Thats why I went for just the performer intake and performer Q-jet and used a larger profile Comp Cams Hi Energy 268H cam for my 406. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

BTW, on the quality issue...I have an Edel performer Q-jet and am very impressed with it's performance offroad. I have had it on some STEEP inclines while hillclimbing and had little to no flooding. Seems like a good quality carb to me! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
