Make sure you know where it’s going to land on the inside. I caught the bottom of the pinch seam below the wipers. I think I used a 1.25” and had little to spare.

Oh I didn't change anything, just depin the connectors, remove the grommet, enlarge the hole in the grommet, reinstall. The large hole is nice because the connectors will fit through. Only time it would matter though is if you had to fish the harness back out for some reason. Not super difficult to depin most connectors so hole size isnt so big a deal, especially if doing it once.
 
well when i asked edelbrock the dude asked the engineers and they want you to drill a 2 inch by 1 inch ob-longed hole with a dremal
 
Oblong? I assume it's to fit the connector? Does it come with a grommet to seal it?
 
yes oblong, yes for connector, have not opened the plastic stuff yet, good question
 
You could accomplish that hole by drilling 1" holes next to each other. I would use a step drill bit for that. Then use the dremmel for clean up.
 
fyi : you do know the ecm is epoxied solid for weather tight .

mine has been in my engine bay on the heater box since day one of install if i recall 1.5 years now and zero problems.

This system apparently is sold by GM with a crate engine. And GM has been putting the ECM under the hood since, what, 1996??
I forgot to try and get you some kind of measurement if where my original TBI harness came through the firewall today when I was working on mine today.

You can always change where the ECM is mounted later, just reroute the harness later.
 
Mine is bolted to the fender at the moment , it will eventually make its way inside above the heater box.
 
Ended up on the driver side firewall, above and outboard of the fusebox penetration for me. 2 screws into the firewall was a lot easier than dealing with another huge hole. Bluetooth connects just fine. And as stated, I could always move it later if I need too.
 
ya mine is an 82 so no hole , i think i will put on firewall and add a hole later after i get it running
 
i seen that one but h had stock covers the one shawn posted looked like aluminum.
