I have a 1987 v10(k10) that has a 350/700 combo.

The truck will die when it goes to idle with the egr hooked up. I replace the control for it and nothing has changed. The egr was quoted to be about 80-150 depending on what numbers my old one has on it. as of right now I am driving with the vac line to the egr actuator plugged off and will trip the ses light after about 10 - 30 minutes driving. I am guessing that is putting the computer in a closed loop mode and I am loosing MPGs out of my rig.

Those that have had experince with this type of failure will putting in a new valve fix the check engine light and let the truck idle again? is this a waste of money to correct since the truck seems to drive fine with it plugged off?

That is what mine was doing. I bought a universal EGR that comes with all the different size orifices. You just install the correct one based off of the OEM size and install. I think it was right at $50.
I could find the PN# if you need it.

was it worth it to replace? mine runs fine with the vac line plugged off just has a ses light come on. get me the part number if you do not mind.

Spend the money.... I ended up replacing my EGR Valve and Solenoid, cost around $85-90 from Napa if I remember right.

I posted this thread earlier. I figure Scott knows his stuff :wink1:
