electric fan wiring help

I'll be the other one to post on it :D I need to wire mine to a temp switch don't have it to one now and have forgot once and almost forgot another time to turn it on :eek1:

This is what you need

Ok Ill be the third one and the last one u need to post in this:D
Use this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HDA-3647/
I use them for over 15 years in many aplications not requiring more than 30 amps. you dont need that exspensive spall system unless your pulling a lot of amps, Like if you were using a Lincoln MKVIII fan that pulls 100 amps on startup.
And using the ground as a switching source is not a smart move. It wil turn the fans on if it shorts out to ground anywhere. If you use the Pos side to switch the relay on and if it shorts to ground it blowes a fuse like every car electrical system known to man. Let me know if u need further assistance;)

OK. I'm bored, and there seems to be a complaint about insufficient attention to this topic...

So you go thru all this in order to to go from a fan blade running directly (assuming your fan clutch is working...) off a pulley from the crank to an alternator running off a pulley from a crank so you can make some electricity (at what? 50-60% efficiency?) so you you can run an electric motor to convert electricity into turning a fan blade (at what efficiency? - ok, let's be generous and say 80%), and then you have to watch a gauge and better not forget to turn said fan blade on by hand ?? Really? :D And all this because of how many fan-deep water crossings? :D

Yea, I've seen the switched fan thing cause trouble when you forget to turn them on. The automatic switch is usually pretty simple and requires no thought (once it's in). :)

My gut tells me there's a wiring error. Not cause I'm trying to be a jerk, but only because I've made so many "installer errors" over the years, I've learned that the problem is almost always my own fault.

Maybe post up your wiring diagram exactly like you have it and maybe one of the three of us will catch something.

I just find it funny when I get to hear that it's too difficult to remember pushing an ARB button when needed... I find I've got better things to do than managing engine cooling hands-on when driving trails - I rather push a camera button than a fan switch.

I've done the electric fan thing on my truck - it was quite interesting when the sensor failed... I haven't looked back since I put the stock fan back in. YRMV

Wiring error or faulty component; nothing a multimeter can't solve...

you should have the fan grounded directly to frame?
mount the thermostat switch in the t-stat housing using a single spade terminal so when it closes it provides the relay ground. then 2 12 volt sources to relay one full time and one key on. the other terminal is power to fan?

yep i know it was wired correctly i checked it multiple times. the thermoswitch never grounded though. i am going to go with the hayden probe one as soon as I get some cash. i never forget to flip my switches though.

When u get the hayydon setup I cnt remember if it has another wire you can use a switch to force it on but i do kknow it has an ac wire to activate it when the ac comes on, You can use that wire to turn them on manually
