The temp sender switch that Jegs sent me is too small for any of the threads on my heads or intake. What to do? Also, is it okay to put the temp sender on the water neck? There's a plug right on top of the water neck that I was going to use, but the temp sender is way too small. Is there some type of an adapter I can get or something?

I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I beleive that earlier heads have a big hole, and later heads have a smaller hole. You should be able to go to the hardware store and buy an NPT pipe adapter that will work.
In fact, I am almost positive that we had to do that on my buddys 350 in his heep.

Do'h mine did come with adapters....

Now will the plug work on top of the water neck? Is that a good place for a reading? There's already a plug there.

you need an NPT pipe bushing.

you can't use your temp sender because it's not a switch... it's a variable grd... didn't we explain all this? :wink1:

Yes, if theres a pipe plug in the intake water jacket unused, thats fine... DO NOT USE TEFLON TAPE! just a dap of pipe sealant is ok..

carbed or EFI?

I have wondered if I could put a temp switch in the plug on the T-stat housing too, but I think I decided it wasnt the best spot. How about on the pass side head? isn't there a plug there that mirrors the one on the drivers side?

yup, the other head ones are usually a bear to get out... TBI's are when ya run into location issues usually, due to the CTS taking up a spot...

tho not ideal, I have less of a prob with going above the thermostat than some in here... imo, it really doesn't matter..

the AF is still the temp it needs to be to open the therm, thus the switch is getting hit with it as soon as the therm opens, which is when ya need em to come on anyway... maybe it takes an extra 30 seconds, maybe......

I just used the fitting on top of the water neck. It seems to be working okay, they're kicking on, but it does seem like it's running a bit warmer than it did with the big fan on the water pump...It's probably just my paranoid imagination.

At least yours works, my temp senders dont work at all from Jegs, either that or I just have no clue how to wire them. But I am 99.9% sure I did it right.

Heh, I messed with it forever trying to figure out why they wouldn't work, then it finally got hot enough and they kicked on.

My only other concern is that they're blowing air toward my motor....Is this correct? Should they be sucking air through the radiator or blowing it into the radiator? The reason I ask is because I hooked them up right but it seems like they're blowing backwards. Anyone know for sure?

The teflon tape would insulate the sender from ground. It grounds thru the threads.

I used some pipe dope. So the fans should actually suck air through the grille and radiator? So mine are set up correctly then, cool.
