On a 2001 Silverado should I cut the ground or positive fuel pump wire? I would like to interrupt and install a kill switch

Breaking the circuit, it’s a loop. Whatever is more convenient for switch placement.

My concern is if I break the ground side then the positive side to the fuel pump will be seeking out a ground. It would be eaiser however to switch the ground side.

With a wired ground it’s going to be a narrow chance of finding a ground but possible. Unless you chafe the ground wire pump side of the switch. Pump is going to be insulated from case ground.
If there is a relay involved u could break the relay ground with the switch but probably little more work.
I also would have no issue breaking the + either.
Might be overthinking, I always do.

I don’t know how the fuel pump is on a 2001, but on square bodies the ground for the pump is right next to the tank. In order to wire in a switch for the ground you’d need to extend that ground line to wherever you want the switch, I’m assuming somewhere in the cab. Easier just to put in a switch on the positive side, maybe on the coil terminal of the pump relay so the switch doesn’t need to handle much current.

My plan is to wire the kill switch outside the cab
