Does the foam sleeve around the fuel pump serve any purpose than noise reduction? Swapped out the fuel pump today and the old sleeve came off in about 4 pieces, so just installed the new pump without one. Anyone know where I can order one?

The blazer was sitting for about 3 years. Slapped a battery in it and it cranked right up. Ran good for about 45 minutes then sputtered and died. It would fire up but die right away. After some trouble shooting, decided it was the pump. Found out it was the rubber hose between the pump and the hardline had a split in it, same problem many other people had here.

It is just to help keep the pump from being too noisy. Hit up your local hardware store and get yourself a thing piece of rubber and cut it to size and wrap it around the pump then mount it again however it mounts.

Ok, thanks. Just wasn't sure what to get, don't want it to deteriorate in the gas and cause problems.

4x4high: On a side note, I believe we both have sons born around the same time (Mar 17, 2009) and I think both are wives are pregnant again (due Aug 23). Just found it kinda funny. Maybe we can get the kiddos together with some other CK5'ers for some wheeling and/or a BBQ

Wait, if you're talking about an intank pump DO NOT use rubber as the fuel will eat it. The hose connecting the pump to the sender is even special hose called submersible fuel hose.

Yes, My son was born 3/6/09 and we have another baby due July 29th.

Yeah, it's an in-tank electric on an 87 K5. That's why I'm not sure what to use. And as far as the submersible fuel hose, I bought a Delphi pump, so hopefully the hose supplied with it was the correct type. Only time will tell
