I don't really like the convoluted tube that's readily available. I was wondering what some other options are or things anyone else has used with good luck. I don't really like just running the wires unsleeved.

painless wiring has some nice stuff, did my whole el camino with it and it's pricey compared to the convoluted tubing you see everywhere.

This stuff:

Powerbraid

Looks more like what I wanted. Thanks! :D You're right about the price though. :doah:

Any other ideas?

I'd thought about using the blue flexible non metallic conduit at lowes.

Ive been looking at the braided stuff myself for a future project. Check eBay. Pc guys also use this stuff when they mod the inside of their cases. Also seen it used in alot of marine applications. Just make sure its rated for the proper heat range if its in the engie compartment. Would suck to burn that stuff on to the wires.

How do you put these onto the wires without cutting the wires up and sliding it on?

Wouldn't work very good for wires with connectors on them and wires that are already hooked up on both ends...

I'm planning on doing mine with just the regular plastic stuff to protect my electric fan wiring and such from as much mud and water as possible. It seems to find it's way into my splices and such...

Here's a little place the diy stereo guys shop at, they call it techflex and have all the little goodies to sleeve the ends and holders for routing, etc. ;)

Try not to get sidetracked looking at speakers and speaker building projects.....or will the General be bumping on the trail next time :D
Thanks for the link. The last time I had a nice sound system, my truck got broken into. Now I don't have a radio at all. :doah: Hopefully they'll leave it alone now.

BTW, I looked through the links a little closer and that is very nice stuff. I like the color selection too. :D Now I'm going to have to rewire my truck. :doah: :rotfl:

Ever try shrink tube? I use shink tubing on connections and plastic wire loom with electrical tape over the top.

Yeah, I use shrink tube on the connections. Most of my wiring right now is uncovered otherwise and just ziptied together if there is more than one wire. :doah:

I just rewired my truck and I used the convulated tubing. Seems to work pretty good and has a slit to put the wires through. Thats how the original wire was routed. The old wiring had no covering for the tail light section. So I just left it that way with the new wiring. I might cover it up later if it gives me issues. I dont really 4 weheel though so im not too worried about it.

whats wrong with just wrapping it with electrical tape? when i bought my painless harness they gave me a sample of that wrap and it looks like it would become a mud sponge-dirt tube.

I got the same sample and I thought the same thing. I bought the tubing for around 15 bucks for the kit. Stuff looks good to me. Its pretty quick and easy to cover the wiring.
