"electrical plug" on 700 trans

Re: \"electrical plug\" on 700 trans

not trying to start a war. the two wire setup has the 3-4 interrupt switch wired in the tran. its function is to unlock the converter in forced down shift. the three wire setups do the grounding of the circuts with the ecm. been researching this real hard as i am converting my 85 to 90 tbi. spent many hours lately looking at the 85 verses the 90 wiring to the 700r4.again sorry to come across so strong.

No, no worries, I'm just trying to get to the bottom of it.

So if the 3-4 switch is wired to interrupt the TCC for the gear change, where, or how, is that wired into the circuit outside of the tranny like it is?

I don't trust the manual very well with the VSS, as I've seen some that don't cover it completely, if thats all you are going off of.

Do you actually have, say, an '83 harness that you pulled from a complete truck to verify? (of course, there were multiple wiring options each year, so even that is muddied)

I mean hey, if I'm wrong and it doesn't use VSS, thats yet another reason for the original poster to use the stock setup instead of buying one!

using the 85 factory manual and the 90 factory manual. also using the wiring harness on my 85 .have also pulled a complete trans harness from an 83. lt blue wire comes from vaccum swich on fire wall to trans plug inside it is connected to the 3-4 inter rupt switch in series with with the solenode to ground. there is a wire in side trans that connect prior to the 3-4 inter rupter to the switch 4th gear ingaged to trans plug to lt green wire to the 4 wheel drive relay inside the cab next to the fuse block.
