Newby has problems. Have an '87 5.7 with TBI. It is missing and popping bad. Doesn't seem to idle too bad when cold. Starts to act up when you accelerate. When it gets warm, it then starts to idle bad. I have replaced the plugs and wires and this did not help. Could this be a coil, or should I look elsewhere? Any help would be appreciated.

check the distributor cap for cracks, carbon tracking, or just plain worn out. /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif /forums/images/graemlins/weld.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif probably not coil, but coil could be weak. Make sure the firing order is correct. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

When the problem occurs hot, but not cold, sensors for the engine control are also a likely culprit. Check easy stuff first, replace if bad, but after that it's going to be a good idea to get a scanner and see whats going on. Could be many things.
