emissions on a 84

Yeah no point in fixing up a questionable carb. Just a slight bit of warpage and the float can hang up. (for instance)

As to lockup, the earlier non ECM trucks (from '82-86??) had a seperate wiring harness and what not for the TCC, make sure what you are dealing with doesn't have this. Vacuum switch, brake pedal switch, and tranny wires going to a black box above the gas pedal from the TCC plug indicate lockup is standalone.

As long as when removing stuff no wires get cut, yes this is good. This is the setup that my '83 had, and it worked great for a primitive system. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
(seriously, I couldn't complain about it at all)
