Ok so here is the jist.. my first numbers..
HC ppm 157 (max 300)
CO% 4.77 (max 3.00) - failed
CO2% 9.6
O2% 4.1

i was told this is a too rich deal.. guy even said he could smell the fuel...
so i went back today... air fuel screws were turnd in to lean it out 1/4 turn.. now look at my numbers...

HC ppm 1341 (max 300)
CO% 2.79 (max 3.00) - failed
CO2% 7.9
O2% 8.8

so WOW.. im in the thousands... more than 4x allowed amount....

now the truck has passed in the past.. but i have chanced the holley truck avenger a bit..

we went from 68 jets to 71.... maybe why im failing.
power valve in this is a 2.5.. we put a 6.5 in... not sure if that would hurt.. but maybe why the truck is falling on its face when you hammer it though....

im going to...
1. take air cleaner off
2. put 65 jets in (3 smaller than factory) - or would you just put the 68 back in? i got it to pass twice with it...
3. put 2.5 power valve back in....

anyother ideas? oh and i tried the guaranteed to pass.. didnt work.. but i also didnt do it quite right.. which could also have part of the problem.. so will drain it out.. i dont drive the truck enough.. so i got it down to 1/2 tank since last inspection.... so i just filled it up to mix it..
saturday i will pump it all out and put in to my other vehicles and get it out of the tank... it says safe on all vehicles and recommended every 3k miles... so ill run it elsewhere...
just so frustrated...

Ok is this running at highway speed or is it just at idle?

For sure put back what you had before and pass the test, if you feel you need the bigger jets and power valve go back later, but get it to pass now.

talked to my uncle who is a motorhead..

he said when he takes his cars through inspection.. he jets them down and massively..
he said his holley came with a 60 and he puts a 52 in it.. he said it will barely go down the highway.. but it does go...

so plan is tonight put my jet back in.. stock 68 and 2.5 power valve...
take all 18 gallons of fuel out and put into 08 silverado and 05 trailblazer as guaranteed to pass is still in 1/2 the tank that i topped off... so will get it out of there.. and it is safe for other vehicles..

gonna try and get these parts replaced tonight.. fire truck up and adust.. then take my son to soccer.... will see... more to come...

Put it back but torn gasket so will need 1 tmorrow'.... idles better.....

Try cranking the idle way up to about 1100 rpm and back the timing off a bit. I've don't this many times for older muscle cars/hot rods and it works well
